Speaker John Boehner told Republicans that the internal debate over immigration reform is an important conversation, as the House GOP kicked off its closed-door meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Boehner said the House will not take up the Senate-passed bill, but said members must do something to address the issue, according to sources inside the room.
Majority Leader Eric Cantor, harkening back to when President Barack Obama first took office, said Republicans need to have a counter offer, just like their alternative to the stimulus.

Build the entire 700 miles of double fencing, then we can discuss legalization.
Boehner needs to be replaced as soon as possible with a real conservative.
The “an essay” must have some truly amazing tapes of these guys.
Back-stabbing little POS.
I pray the 70 conservatives who confronted Boehner last month remind him of their intention to leave the GOP and form the Freedom Party if he crumbles on this. Boehner is looking for a rabbit hole to jump into, in the worst way possible.
>I vote for DOGS and a Shoot to Kill order.
Yep, as we suspected....he’s sold out again.
I would not go as far as shooting illegal aliens on sight, however I think it would be a good idea to notch their ears when they are caught.

I believe nothing Politico reports.
I'm convinced some of them are paid disruptors and/or agents provocateurs
Even idiot children only lick the frozen flagpole once.
For enough love and money, even you would be tempted to do it twice.
First, this story comes from Polutico; so we can be sure that we aren’t getting the truth.
Second, there’s not one of them up there that is trustworthy.
Third, this all comes down to who do they fear most. We must hold their feet to the fire every day and cut off their funding at every opportunity. Only starving legislators will do what’s right.
I disagree. The best thing Republicans can do right now is to vote to remove Boehner as Speaker and put Michele Bachmann in.
The “something” that House members should do to address the issue is to clarify and restate current immigration laws and enforcement. Then, Boehner should appoint a committee to work on proposals for any changes or new proposals. The results should be released after all the more pressing issues are addressed, like the deficit, unemployment and the ever increasing debt ceiling.
You could add to those pressing issues, the IRS scandal, Benghazi, Egypt, and now the Obama administration role in agitating for the indictment of George Zimmerman.
Sure, pass more laws everyone will ignore.
Thanks for the info. How do you know this?
I imagine/hope someone is also counting votes to replace Boehner as Speaker.

Doubt it as I am wholly unmaterialistic. My price is greater than they could ever pay ;)
That aside, most of the people licking that frozen flagpole for the 3 dozenth time aren’t getting either love or money for doing it. All they are getting is the ‘benefit’ of humiliating themselves in public. And if that many masochist exist on the right, we rival the best of the Folsom street Parade.
That’s the only response actually. Right on the mark.
Yeah. I had you pegged as a dirty commie hippie, that's why I said LOVE or (well, I did say "and", I meant "or") money.
Would you do it to save your wife? Your country? Your children?
That's what these True Believers think they are doing.

Well, you aren’t a 10 dollar whore, Norm, so you aren’t like all of the Democrats, and most of the Republicans in D.C. You ain’t qualified to comment : )
