It is good that he did that but I don’t think it will buy him redemption. For his sake I hope he did everything by the book. I would not want to have this disaster on my conscience. Prayers for all involved.

There was a fire in the lead locomotive after he parked the train.

The local FD shut off the locomotive and put the fire out. One or two railroad employees (ID's unpublished to date) were apparently at the parked train after/during the fire.

At some point (~1 hr) after that fire was put out and all left, the train started to roll down the grade.

Wasn’t it the firefighters who unintentionally caused this by turning off the engine which was keeping the air pressure to the braking system?
