Why do teachers continue to promote students who obviously are failing? I blame the dems for wanting to keep black students ignorant. Blacks are not inherently dumb. There are examples of charter and private schools where black students excel. Of course parents need to be involved, but it’s even more than that. Who benefits from keeping blacks ignorant and dependent on government for everything? Certainly not republicans.

When I worked at a publishing company in FL, I hired a very bright fellow, highly educated, mild-mannered English teacher at a local high school, to edit a manuscript for us. In the course of talking about the work, the teacher told me that he was in big trouble at the school for correcting a black kid. Kid's parents came storming into the school, demanding the principal fire him. Teacher was accused of racism and discrimination for correcting the kids' use of the English language.

THAT's exactly why teachers just throw up their hands...they have to in order to keep their jobs.

The federal government puts a lot of pressure on schools to show annual increases in test scores and graduation rates. Schools and teachers suffer if their results don't show improvement and don't meet federal targets.

The reported results show improvements but black students continue to drop out or graduate as functional illiterates.

Everyone knows this is happening.

I believe an unwritten objective of these federal programs is to force schools to graduate minority students at rates similar to non-minorities, regardless of actual abilities. After all - We can't have official data submitted showing blacks are less capable and we certainly don't want to damage their self esteem by holding them back a grade or two.

It's a safety issue.

If you don't promote them, you'll wind up with 17 year-old black thugs in the 4th grade with 10 year-old white kids.

The Jeantel person is 19 and just entering the 12th grade. She is unlikely to qualify to graduate. So, she will be told that she can't come back to high school, but that she can move to an adult education program. Chances are that she will choose to stay home to drink and smoke pot all day. Believe it or not, she will find someone drunk or high enough to procreate with her. She'll then start pooping out more Jeantels and will become a welfare mommy.

I agree and I was born and raised in a place and at a time when most white people assumed that blacks were born mentally handicapped. I think there may be some differences in natural abilities between whites and blacks but I don’t really believe that one is inherently superior to the other. Oddly enough many black people I have known have expressed a different opinion, they have told me that they DO consider white people to be mentally superior to blacks while they believe blacks are physically superior to whites.
