Mr. Stossel’s gut reaction is isolationsist and I understand and sympathize with him 100% however, Barack Obama’s presidency represents a sort of crossroads for our civilaztion. We are indeed at the August 1939 moment and any person who has LEARNED THE LESSONS OF WWII understands that the US interests and as a force for good must be backed up by a credible military threat - thatis the way the world works. With this administration we have tossed away the concept of American Exceptionalism and detterence.

We do not ahve to invlove ourselves in every coup or war but we must be prepared (keyword “prepared”) to appluy our froce not just in a short term way but to hed off or snip problems in the bud should they arise.

This is the lesson of WWII and if we retreat back to the borders of North Ameirca only, will will find the enemy on our shores or over our airspace very quickly. We have the Soviets, oops, I mean Russiand and Red, oops, I mean Chinese biting not just at our ankles anymore but at our kneecaps. They are constantly building up their forces and probing ours. If we do not remain vigilasnt we will have another 9/11 or Pearl Harbor on our hands. So, while Mr. Stossel’s proposals appeal to my gut, my brain tells me differently - that we must be invloved.
