House Bill 183 would create a path toward concealed carry for law-abiding citizens, while also ensuring proper safeguards, training requirements and mental health protections. The legislation sets forth specific requirements as to where it would be legal to carry firearms and what locations firearms would be prohibited, such as courthouses, schools, government buildings and stadiums, among other places. The legislation includes “shall issue” permits that would be issued by the state police to those who complete the 16 hour training requirement. A $150 fee will be charged for a five year concealed carry license.
