Well, it’s now law; but then what is the law? No one really knows. The State is strangely silent on just what one must do to qualify for CCW, aside from having a valid FOID card and passing a background check and paying a $150 non-refundable application fee. The kicker is that one also has to complete 16 hours of “saftey training,” but the State has not stipulated just what that training must comprise, or who would be approved trainers. Do veterans get a waiver? If one has a valid CCW from another state does that waive any of Illinois’ requirements. Is there any reciprocity?
