Sounds like David Dewhurst is going to run for governor too. He's a load-your-ammo mudslinger. His only chance of winning is to attack Abbott the leading challenger for the race. It will be curious to see how he unloads on Abbott.

But this being Texas, ... doesnt come close to representing the sentiments of most Texans.... a contradiction in terms. "But this being" the Dallas Morning News, it is to be expected.

Sadly, this is modern Texas politics at its worst. Really?
I suppose the author would prefer the candidates to move to the left to ape the simian politicians who are bankrupting California.
The reality is that Texas is one of the best managed states in the country, perhaps in the world, and leftist politicians would do well to emulate the Texas model.

The time may be coming, and coming soon, when every conservative in America will move to Texas, one of the last bastions on Planet Earth of true conservatism.
Is there any room for all of us?

If Greg Abbott runs, he will definitely get my vote. But I sure hope someone will come forth who can fill his shoes as AG.

Well, I sure am not voting for David do-do hurst. We need someone like Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz. I like Greg Abbott and will vote for him.

But this being Texas, these otherwise likable men will draw lessons from the spanking Dewhurst received at the hands of Ted Cruz in last years senatorial race, and will now engage in the most shameful effort imaginable to claim the Tea Party mantle a mantle, by the way, that doesnt come close to representing the sentiments of most Texans. Yup all the DIABN (Democrats in all but name) will be climbing all over themselves proclaiming what great 'conservatives' they are, and the media will just go right along with it, as if it had some small bit of reality to it. Why? Because the ideals of the Tea Party do represent the sentiments of most Texans. If it didn't, they wouldn't have to pretend to be something they are not.
Perry's not running for Gov because he's running for president. Won't vote for him. Not in the primary. Not in the general. I don't care what communist they run against him.
Same goes for Dewhurst
