The progressive/liberal mindset is to strive to bring more people onto government assistance. This is exactly the opposite of what needs to be done. It wasn’t that long ago that the opposite was true.
It wasn't that long ago, and for most of the nation's history, we protected our industries with import tariffs. But then we decided it was better to buying cheap stuff from China and pay to feed 100 million Americans.
And worse, contrary to the Founding Fathers belief, we now claim buying cheap stuff from China to be a freedom and an inherent right. And those dang freeloading out of work Americans, well they can just starve or move to China and get work for $2/day. /s
