One of the biggest administrative hurdles facing Obamacare was the ambitious plan to verify the income and insurance status of applicants for federal health coverage subsidies. In theory, on Oct. 1 of this year, a prospective beneficiary of Obamacare was supposed to be able to visit a website like Orbitz, enter basic information, and wait as multiple state and federal government databases communicated with one another to confirm in real time the applicants income level, and then display the level of subsidy to which the applicant was entitled, if any. It was a level of technological sophistication unlike anything ever attempted by the government.
Now, with less than three months to go before Obamacares health insurance exchanges are set to begin enrolling applicants, Obamas Department of Health and Human Services is throwing up its hands. Just as it did with the employer mandate, the administration has announced it would delay the implementation of these anti-fraud procedures due to the administrative difficulty.
In a regulation released Friday and flagged by Washington Post reporters Sarah Kliff and Sandhya Somashekhar, the administration will now rely on self-reported data. You read that correctly. A man who earns $50,000 per year and gets insurance through his employer could log on to the new government website and say he earns $20,000 and gets no insurance through his employer, and the government would not even attempt to confirm that the information is accurate before forking over generous taxpayer subsidies. Its a recipe for rampant fraud, which is already widespread in Medicare and Medicaid.

What a debacle. The commie kids currently trying to run the government are clueless.
Yet the PSA touting the law’s “marvelous anti-fraud provisions” still runs on my radio every quarter-hour.
This will not end well.
It wasn’t a supposed to.
Obamacare is supposed to precipitate a new “crisis” the only “solution” for which will be single payer.
Then they get to have it both ways - they get the benefit of being cheaper to hire (theoretically they're not eligible, so there's no employer penalty), but they can still get coverage because nobody is verifying eligibility.
I couldn't help thinking: "All this fraud being encouraged by BO and they sound like they are worried about somebody not making a co-pay on CPAP filters or something trivial like that?"
My local Mark Levin affiliate cuts him off IN MID-SENTENCE to run this PSA, along with the one where Julia Louis-Dreyfus whines that our National Parks are “underfunded”.
Where do you listen to Quinn and Rose? You know WHLO Akron has dumped his show?
What can possibly go wrong with this?
Partial Government control is Socialism.
Total Government control is Communism.
B. Hussein Obama is a Communist for his Obamacare.
BTW, if you doubt that Obama does not have total control of you, just try not paying for Federally mandated insurance, or the fine.
104.7, their flagship station. Isn't their transmitter on the hillside with that WTAE tower in Monroeville? Good, clear signal out here in the Laurel Highlands.
Pay off ,kick back etc
So let me get this straight: Honest people will end up paying the healthcare bill for the dishonest people. Got it.
You hit that one on the head.
There is a scathing editorial in the WSJ today about how the Democrats are running and hiding from the bill they all voted for, rammed through, and put into law without a single Republican supporting it. Now the Democrats see the terrible ineptitude of the HHS, IRS, and Obama, and they are running for the hills and denying any responsibility for passing this POS. Then there is the whole issue of King Obama deciding unilaterally which pieces of law will be enforced and which pieces he will not enforce which is flat out illegal. An elected President can not legally decide which laws he will overrule and choose not enforce. There will be billions of taxpayer dollars spent on trying to defend the present administration from the laws they are now breaking.
