Well, “Hispanic” isn’t technically a racial term, it just means someone from the Spanish-speaking world, it’s more of a linguistic term. There are caucasian Hispanics (usually descended from Spaniards), but that isn’t the sense that the media uses it to portray Zimmerman, because his Peruvian ancestors were likely mostly Native American, not Spaniards.

Mr Zimmerman's ancestry from his Peruvian side most likely, contains a thorough mix of several different stocks, as most Peruvians are not completely of one particular genetic heritage. These could/would include European Caucasians of different varieties (not just Spaniards), Native American (from any number of different subgroups, and not solely Incan), Black African, and East Asian.

My wife is Peruvian, and in her family alone, most of the aforementioned genetic stocks are represented, but mixed overall...
