Language problem with foreign pilots. Also, a cultural difference in that some cultures have a hard time “losing face” and “going around” from an approach where the pilot is expecting to make a landing, might be considered losing face.

Did I hear “go around”? I believe that was after the crash... They were telling everybody else in line to go around.
