Currently just Tweets and locals talking about this, nothing on news sites yet. Lots of stuff in the Twitter feed, including links to uploaded videos of the smoking mess.
The scanner said 290 people and one infant on board.
Aw geez! They are talking about a possible explosion inside the aircraft that blew the tail off.
lots of people boarding busses at the triage area.
Ha, great question. I doubt it is, but just the same, we should be on the lookout.
Thanks. Now they’re deploying boats to look for potential victims.
Port engine (No. 1?) is missing.
lots of debris visible before the landing threshold
Thx for sharing. Kind of resembles today’s crash,no?
Praying here.

If you are ever in a situation with mass casualties...here is a tip...If you CAN..just stand fast and say/YELL TOWARD THE INJURED.... “Anyone who can WALK, come to me” (that is one way to do a FAST triage of “walking wounded and NON injured, so you can assess who may be able to assist you with others..
You must have been listening to carrier pilots——the ship’s moving and you have to snag a wire. And it seems like everyone in the world is shining blinking lights at you.——Landing on hard ground-—piece of cake. Just cut the power, pick your spot, and stick the plane on it.
The wings are damaged but from the video the wings are intact and attached.
They are saying the tail fell off upon landing. I wonder if it was a serious tail strike. Trail of runway damage from the start of the runway to where the tail debris is.
Am hearing no serious injuries..if that is the case, after seeing how bad this aircraft looks, this pilot is a hero!!
WOW! The main fuselage buckled and when it sprang back, it threw the tail off like a snap. That force went from mains, thru fuselage, and then snapped that tail off when it rolled forward and back of source. Better the tail snapped off than the cockpit.
pics and eyewitness bear that out.
Hmmm...Now after better look, it appears right wing broken off near the tip, but somewhat still attached..
Seems the aircraft bottomed out on the tail after nose went up, upon landing. Then cartwheeled per witness.
“They are talking about a possible explosion inside the aircraft that blew the tail off.”
If so, oh boy, here we go.
1) Bird strike through right engine on approach
2) Loss of power on landing
3) Right wing and tail impact runway hard
4) Right wing tip rips away and tail breaks off on impact
5) Heavy impact collapses all landing gear
6) Sudden impact triggers fire in fuselage
7) Jet skids down runway
While a tail strike is most likely scenario, I suppose the tail could have broken off as the result of a very hard landing.
Both wings largely intact, so cartwheeling is NOT indicated.
