This is what we are seeing in Egypt...and it is likely that these Islamic extremists will push it to a fight...one they will lose becuase I do not believe the Egyptian military will fight with kid gloves or with one armed tied behind their back. Always good to see your insights. You know, they are still killing each other in Iraq. I realize the Egyptian army is light years ahead of Iraq, but isn't this just ripe for insurgency?
Depends on how the army handles it. If you give them ROEs that say don't be too rough, only fire after being fired upon, and try and make friends with the populations from which the insurgency comes...yes. If you let the army fight the insurgency tooth and nail with extreme prejudice, and take that fight to the support...then no.
I expect the Egyptians understand that their entire way of life and country is at stake and will not tie the hands of their armed forces.
