I’ve never understood why we need illegal aliens to work in this country.
They are “doing jobs Americans won’t do” and all that. Well, why do we need to import millions of people to work, when we already have millions of unemployed?
Many of these jobs Americans allegedly won’t do are lower skilled type jobs. Many of our home grown unemployed have few skills. Sounds like a good match to me. Why don’t we match up some of these unemployed with no skills with the jobs that are being filled by illegals?
And why do millions on some sort of public assistance, including disability, get a pass on being required to work? We have able bodied people in the ghetto, for example, who are not doing anything productive with their lives. But for whatever reason, they decide not to work. So we import illegals.
Is it a case of jobs that Americans won’t do, or is it a case of jobs Americans refuse to do?
I’m ready to be flamed, by suggesting that unemployed ghetto youth could go work on farms. I’m sure that would offend Jesse Jackson, et. al., and bring back images of sharecroppers being cheated and all that. But I think it’s at least worth asking the questions about some of this, rather than accept as a given that we have millions, especially in our inner cities, who will never be expected to contribute to society. And at the same time, we decide that we need millions of workers from other countries to do work which native born Americans won’t do.
