They have to have those rules if they want to "celebrate". Where they're delusional is thinking they can keep Cleveland's challenges out. JMHO
Oh yeah, big time, but gays didn't do anything to get the fireworks canceled, it was the Cleveland 'hood rats beating people up.
Not really. I was born in Lakewood and spent many fun days in that park, either with my family for 4th of July celebrations, or just going to the park with my buddies to spend a fun day. Grills, small fireworks, the main celebration etc were all a part of that. The park is on a bluff overlooking Lake Erie, and they did the fireworks from the edge of the bluff out over the lake, with a fence between the spectators and the professional fireworks people. It was pretty safe, even though I recall they all went up at once one year, but to the best of my recollection, there were no injuries (I could be wrong about that.) My family and I stayed in one of those shelters one year when a storm came over the lake (a not uncommon situation), until the storm cleared out.
People should remember that a few years ago, the city government was involved in one of the early “eminent domain” games where the city wanted to take land for development in that area (taxes, anyone?)
It was so surprising that my wife, who is from Latin America, showed me the article (we had moved to FL), with the comment (I had taken her to the park, which she thought was great) : “What the h*ll is this?”
I can’t remember where I picked up this meme. Maybe from that comic strip. All I know is it is more relevant now then ever.
Wouldn’t have gone....
Banning liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Unfortunately, every one of those rules had to be implemented to stop the feral animals from ruling the park and preventing average families from having any chance whatsoever of enjoying a peaceful experience in the park.
None of those rules would impact a family using the park for a stroll or a picnic, except for the search rule. In fact, that particular rule is a tip off as to exactly how grim the situation must be in that area.
(1) This is a beautiful park on the shores of Lake Erie that "citizens" trash on special days.
(2) It is not far from low-class Amish neighborhoods.
It is clear why rules using this property is for the purpose of respecting its beauty, cleanliness, and accessibility for all, especially with little kids.
Been there.
Did they have fireworks last year?
Nitpicking, Steely.
