What’s scary is that in the past when I called my congressman’s office, I was able to talk directly to staffers who knew something about the issue. Now I am getting “We’ll contact you” (no doubt a form letter composed by an intern). The staffer said, “When you are dealing with millions of people...” I don’t believe that millions of people called their office.

Who knows. Maybe I just called at a bad time. Or maybe my congressman (or his staff)has no particular interest in my knowing what he is doing, how he will vote.

I’ll keep trying. I don’t like facebook and twitter, but I have been trying to use those too. I found another constituent on twitter who seems to agree with me about amnesty. Maybe we can join forces.

I'd remind them that the public overall does not want this bill, it's in every poll; I'd also remind them what happened to the GOP base after the 2006 bill failed. We stayed home en masse giving the democrats the new majority. If they want that, and they want to lose their jobs, tell them to ignore you at their peril.
