Egypt is braced for further dramatic events on Friday as the vanquished Muslim Brotherhood called for a "day of rejection" following a widespread crackdown on its leadership by the country's new interim president, Adly Mansour.
Supporters of the ousted president Mohamed Morsi, still reeling from the military coup that removed their leader from power, are expected to take to the streets after Friday prayers following a series of raids and arrests that decimated the Muslim Brotherhood's senior ranks and consolidated the miltary's hold on the country.
In a stark sign of Egypt's new political reality, the group's supreme leader, Mohamed al-Badie, who was untouchable under Morsi's rule, was one of those arrested.
Gehad el-Haddad, a spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, said: "We are being headhunted all over the country. We are holding a mass rally after Friday prayers to take all peaceful steps necessary to bring down this coup." He called for demonstrations to be peaceful, despite fears that anger may spill over into violence.
State prosecutors announced on Thursday that Morsi, who is in military custody, would face an investigation starting next week into claims that he had "insulted the presidency" a move that would appear to put an end to any hopes of a political resurrection.

I think we should airlift kerry, hillary and obama right into the heart of things
They could explain that people shouldn't get so rattled by a YouTube video, however tasteless it may have been.
Or was that some other crisis they solved . . .
When Islamists in Algeria were denied power in Algeria after winning an election, their reaction was predictable. They waged a violent campaign of civil unrest and terrorism. The Army was forced to secure enclaves and protect the oil and gas facilities. They were able to support themselves and feed the population. However normal life ceased. Algeria remains a bizarre place. Egypt is already destitute and overpopulated. The Brotherhood will not go gently and there will be violence. Egypt without massive aid could never survive prolonged civil strife. The real test for the Egyptian army will not be achieving a coup, but preventing Egypt from suffering Algeria’s fate. Otherwise the West should prepare for hordes of unwanted refugees.
I hope they are not too gentle with these barbarians.
I hope they eradicate the MB
Of course, you gotta wonder about MB within the Egyptian army. It’s not implausible that they have multitudes of bad actors ready to roll. Probably a boatload of fatwas at Friday “prayers” everywhere.
The civil war that could ensue would make Syria look like an eighth grade field trip.
Funny, how Leftists start saying how terrible the Arab Spring is when protestors oust radical and corrupt jihadists from the reigns of power. Egypt’s economy is already a mess and the Muslim Brotherhood wasn’t sharing its foreign aid with the Egyptians. So Obama’s retaliation won’t impact them. If Egypt holds steadfast on cleaning house and a few months later you see its economy improve, this will show the bankruptcy of Obama’s Middle East policy, and you can bet more countries will just ignore Obummer when making important decisions.
Otherwise the West should prepare for hordes of unwanted refugees."
Um, think again. The powers that be are anxious to have a wave if Mooze Lames wash across the country since they're a tad worried about the reliability of the folks from Mexico these days. Good Mooze Lames know how to keep unreliable serfs in line and don't have any Bill of Rights or Christian hangups.
There’s going to be blood shed tomorrow....
The Egyptian military should reinstate Mubarak and incarcerate the Brotherhood.

Obama Warns Against Arrests of Morsi and Brotherhood Members
I believe I would be hunkering down.Within a secure perimeter.

I don’t doubt that. Just pass the popcorn. More killings from the Religion of Peace. I just hope the Pyramids are not harmed.
I think we should airlift kerry, hillary and obama right into the heart of things
Aw, heck, yes! We'll send in troops to rescue them as soon as we figure out what difference, at this point, it makes.
And I doubt that this will be another regime. Unlike the crazy, Islamist nations that the Middle East has become infamous for, Egypt has a lot of secularists from the Mubarak era who absolutely have reject Islamic law. I see a complete possibility of an actual leader being elected to Egypt. This is not a coup: http://t.co/pKbLWnmRGq— Naguib Sawiris (@NaguibSawiris) July 4, 2013
