Bette Midler is taking a different approach.
The Parental Guidance star imagines a world in which the U.S. lost the war for its independence, but it's not like that's a bad thing. After all, she argues, that would mean we'd finally have socialized medicine.

You know no matter what she’d never be in a waiting room with you or i for 2-3 hours in pain wondering where the doctor was.
No, Bette, that is not necessarily true.
You see, the British may have decided NOT to give their American subjects the same benefits of citizenship as their English counterparts, which is the core of why we declared independence from England.
You see, we didn’t revolt and “revolution” is really a bit of a misnomer.
We demanded the same rights as English taxpayers that our English counterparts were receiving.
When the tyrant whose ideologies bear a striking resemblance to the liberal Democrats refused, we simply separated ourselves from him and the rest of his country.
It was not WE but THEY that revolted from that simple act of separation and tried to enforce to remain their taxpaying subjects, which was a form of slavery.
But we wanted to be free, so we DEFENDED OURSELVES against those slave-masters.
Thank GOD the people in this land had enough firearms to fight back.
And even if none of this were true and we were British subjects and we did have their healthcare, we would still be dying at home, in ambulances, and in waiting rooms waiting for the POS British healthcare system to finish decided whether to treat us. Now, we all know that the socialist systems fail because of lack-of-funds and that part of why they have their ‘death panels’ and very slow bureaucracies to force people to die so that the government does not spend money on them. But that wouldn’t impact stupid rich people like yourself, because rich hypocrites such as you can always buy what you need, right?
Now, Bette, I don’t expect a stupid, empty-headed little entertainer like you to be able to think about these things. But I do expect your handlers to tape your mouths shut that you don’t prove to the world just how stupid you are.
“She can always move there.”
The simple answer is frequently the best answer.
Wonder how Shakespeare would do with ebonics.
Gather round bro's and ho's, phatties and shorties, the ebonics guide to shakespeare.... act one scene one begins next time at the westside welfare office where young men walk with canes and swaggar
Stated that their Health Care availability is extremely slow to almost nonexistent. The wait list was likened to Sara Palin pronounced 'death panels'. Far too many of their relatives/acquaintances succumbed to the respective diseases while waiting for available heath care.
Exactly! If Britain and all the welfare it offers are so wonderful, why doesn’t she move there? I’m sure they would love to tax the stuffins’ out of her.
Or French...
Excellent voice though.
Well no. No successful American Rebellion, no Republic example to inspire the Jacobeans, so the French Momarchy remains.
With the resources of North America, Britian doesn't need Prussia to contain France, who now has common interest with Russia to keep a disorganised Holy Roman Empire as a buffer region. Neither of them, nor Sweden, want a strong Prussia.
The whole 19th Century plays out differently, to many possible outcomes unlike the present
Actually it would have be abolished in 1833.
I always wonder if they understand how stupid they sound when they utter such nonsense ....
Her brains must have fell out of her head
.
Thank you. :)
PING!
Why does anyone pay any attention to these moonbat maroons?
Remember, Bette got her start singing in bathhouses.
