George W. Bush isnt a man to gloat. If we were, his message to Africans, as he visits the continent at the same time as President Obama, would be: Miss me yet?
The answer, according to the Washington Post, is a resounding yes. Consider this passage from the Posts story Bush AIDS policies shadow Obama in Africa:
[A]cross this continent, many Africans wish Obama was more like Bush in his social and health policies, particularly in the fight against HIV/AIDS one of the former presidents signature foreign policy aid programs. Bush poured billions of dollars into the effort to combat the spread of the disease that once threatened to consume a generation of young Africans, and as Obama has spent two days touring South Africa, the shadow of his predecessor has trailed him.
Obamas words have carried him far in America. But on matters of life and death, actions speak much louder than even Obamas words. In South Africa, Bushs actions helped reduce the HIV infection rate by 30 percent and put nearly 2 million people on antiretroviral drugs.
Obama, by contrast, produced a budget last year that reduces AIDS funding globally by roughly $214 million, the first time an American president has reduced the U.S. commitment to fighting the epidemic. He has proposed additional cuts for 2014.
Hillary Thulare of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation summarized the situation this way:
Knowing that Africa has many challenges, with fighting AIDS being one of the biggest challenges, we were really expecting President Obama to continue where President Bush had left off. But its been a disappointment. Obama is retreating on AIDS and, by this, retreating on Africa.
So, yes, they miss Bush in Africa. And all of Obamas efforts to bask in the glory of Nelson Mandela wont change this.
He should move there and take Jeb with him.
Didn’t Obama claim to have quadrupled what Bush did? Obama’s zealotry in favor of homosexuality isn’t exactly helpful in trying to stop the spread of HIV and AIDS either.
Yes, but Bush’s billions for AIDS and Hussein’s billions for development is way too much of our tax dollars.
leftists do not care about the spread of HIV and AIDS, did you never see the pamphlet that Planned Parenthood hands out to HIV infected yutes?
It encourages them to keep having sex and not tell their partners if that would mean they couldn’t have sex.

I think its a felony in every state for a person infected to lie about it to get sex, but PP calls it a “right”
Tough luck, Africa. Sucks to be you.
The US really doesn’t miss the Arbustos much.
Great photo!
Isn’t it nice, he’s not the least concerned about the “photo op?” Maybe next time he can borrow MO’s $600 running shoes instead of wearing the beat-up ones he’s got on in this pic.
At least Bush’s AIDS program was effective — and, by all reports I’ve seen, very cost-effective too. If you’re going to spend money on foreign aid anyhow, it’s a nice bonus if it actually helps improve the situation.
I realize that Bush sets a great example and he is not afraid to get his hands dirty. But is he what Africa really needs — more cheap labor?
lol!
They miss Nixon and Agnew in America, compared to what we have now.
Dubya—return to me!
LOL, He's married I think :)
And You, also
Things I dont miss about George W. Bush (By Michelle Malkin February 9, 2010 02:04)
1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;
2) massively expanded the federal role in education;
3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;
4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;
5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;
6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;
8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;
9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:
Bush did a photo op with Obama so I’m not surprised other photos are being posted here to take the heat off.
George W Bush decided in 2008 that the government had to take taxpayer dollars and bail out businesses. The government was “saving the free enterprise system” we were told at the time.
It was the beginning of a policy that Barack Obama would carry on with gusto, adding more billions and trillions to our national debt.
GEORGE W BUSH IS SLOW MOTION OBAMA AND I DON’T WANT HIM BACK
