Agence France-Presse 30.07.12 MOSCOW Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed into law a bill punishing people for homosexual "propaganda" in a move critics fear will fuel hate crimes. Rights activists and Western governments have criticised bthe bill as part of an unprecedented crackdown on dissenting voices. The anti-propaganda law introduces fines of up to 5,000 rubles ($156) for citizens who disseminate information aimed at minors "directed at forming nontraditional sexual setup" or which may cause a "distorted understanding" that gay and heterosexual relations are "socially equivalent". Opponents have called the bill homophobic and so vaguely defined that it would inevitably be used arbitrarily and stir anti-gay sentiment in the country. However, it sailed through parliament and Putin had promised in advance that he would sign it. The fines go up to as much as 200,000 rubles ($6,250) for officials if such "propaganda" is disseminated through the media or Internet. Foreigners will not only be fined but face administrative arrest up to 15 days and eventual deportation. Organisations face fines of up to one million rubles and a shutdown of their activity for 90 days.
A poll by independent Levada Centre in April showed that 39 percent of Russians believe that gays and lesbians should have the same rights as heterosexuals, while 47 percent disagreed. This represented a more conservative trend than a poll from 2005 where figures showed 51 percent for and 35 percent against.

bump!!
great idea
Go Putin!
Perhaps Russia will soon be like Iran - what homosexuals? We don’t have any.
Putin for President! (Photoshop a Hawaii birth certificate first, of course.)
If Obama signed a gay propaganda law, it be to make it mandatory.
No way! I thought we were on the wrong side of history?
I was channel scanning earlier this evening and I ran into a program full of fags tonight. I think it was called The Big Bang Theory. It was on TBS on reruns. First time I have seen it, well only for about three minutes.
Their tyrant is better than our tyrant...
Yep and the shows are all perverted, gay or straight, even the kid channels get in on this sometimes.
Good for Putin. I wish our President had half his brains.
But then ours is gay.
I agree totally. I venture out and see what the other side is doing every once in a while for as long as I can stand it.
On another note, I watched a movie on Netflix tonight. It was, Rhodes of Africa made in 1936, starring Walter Huston. It is an interesting history of South Africa in the late 19th century. I also learned how Rhodesia got its name, and it has motivated me to learn more about history about South Africa at that time and the parallels to American manifest destiny of the 1800's.
I tried to watch a movie called “The Bounty”, it was PG, so I felt safe. Big mistake. Hordes of naked women and sneering men chasing them and pawing them for a third of the film.
PG my big butt!!
That is native nudity. The reason why boys read National Geographic. (well, maybe not any longer.)
It was nowhere near PG
I think I have seen it. Mel Gibson and Anthony Hopkins were in it. At least it wasn’t gay. Not for kids tho.
The Big Bang Theory - is a comedy about three young theoretical physicists and their relationships with their GIRLFRIENDS.
nerds I think
although one of the girls does look like a bleached, faked plsticked up, porn star
I sure would love to trade Putin for our commie muslim pig 0dumb0! In fact I would throw in Holder, Bite-Me, Hillary, Valerie, Harry Reid & Pelosi, all for good measure! Get them the hell outa our formerly once great USA.
Check out the polling information from Russia. In 2005 people in Russia were much more receptive to homosexuality...
Can we throw in the RINOs and Tokyo Rove ?
