Howdy everyone!

Woo hoo!! Our 3rd quarter FReepathon is well underway!!

As you all know, FR is funded solely by the donations provided by the people who love and use it. We accept no advertising or corporate sponsors. We sell no merchandise or memberships. We are not a 501c and are not subsidized by the government. It's just us freedom loving citizens exercising our first amendment rights free of any political party, government or outside influences.

So please keep those donations coming in folks. With Obama's government pulling out all stops on the road to fundamentally transforming America (to a communist state), we need FR now more than ever to keep it free! Make it a monthly if you can.

Click the link above to donate by secure server or by mail to:

Free Republic - PO Box 9771 - Fresno, CA 93794

Thank you all very much!!

God bless.

Since we got an above ground pool we rarely go to the beach anymore and I miss the salty sand taste of my tuna sandwich.

Much of my family is on Cape Cod. I grew up by the ocean and cherish those memories.

"The night before the Fourth was once the focal point of celebrations, marked by raucous gatherings often incorporating bonfires as their centerpiece.
In New England, towns competed to build towering pyramids, assembled from hogsheads and barrels and casks. They were lit at nightfall, to usher in the celebration. The highest were in Salem, Massachusetts (on Gallows Hill, the famous site of the execution of 13 women and 6 men for witchcraft in 1692 during the Salem witch trials, where the tradition of bonfires in celebration had persisted), composed of as many as forty tiers of barrels; these are the tallest bonfires ever recorded.
The custom flourished in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and is still practiced in some New England towns."

The Obama’s personal spending of our money will only get worse as his time in office shortens.

"The national flag of the United States of America, often simply referred to as the American flag, consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton (referred to specifically as the "union") bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows of six stars (top and bottom) alternating with rows of five stars.
The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states of the United States of America and the 13 stripes represent the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain and became the first states in the Union. Nicknames for the flag include the "Stars and Stripes", "Old Glory", and "The Star-Spangled Banner" (also the name of the national anthem)."

"Since 1868, Seward, Nebraska has held a celebration on the same town square. In 1979 Seward was designated “America’s Official Fourth of July City-Small Town USA” by resolution of Congress. Seward has also been proclaimed Nebraska’s Official Fourth of July City” by Governor James Exon in proclamation. Seward is a town of 6,000 but swells to 40,000+ during the July 4 celebrations."
