Resolved: That the Constitution confers upon Congress sovereign powers over the Territories of the United States for their government; and that in the exercise of this power, it is both the right and the imperative duty of Congress to prohibit in the Territories those twin relics of barbarism — Polygamy, and Slavery.-Republican Party platform, 1856.
Polygamy was barbarism then, and it is now. If we have to emulate someone from the past, let us emulate the United States, circa 1962 before things started to decline, instead of looking thousands of years into the BC range or desert savages.

Besides the point, isn’t it? We were discussing polygamy, not adultery or murder. If God didn’t “condone” polygamy, why was it practiced so long by His chosen people? That is a hard question to answer, isn’t it?
