East Point is a southside area of Atlanta. It is inside the I-285 perimeter and was once a nice suburb. The 2010 census puts the population at about 33,000 meaning they lost over $6,000 for every man, woman and child in the city.
Not a whole lot of private businesses could last very long while completely losing track of 40% of their expenditures.

As of the 2010 census, 78.16% African-American. The pattern continues.....and it's a shame.

Look for the local politicians that drive brand new Cadillac Escalades every year and party non-stop. Shouldn’t take that long...

While their constituents are scraping along...barely. This government loves additional punishment laws like âhate crimesâ, ‘we the people’ should be demanding extra punishment for public officials who betray they people’s trust.

Misguided payment of protection money. They can keep stealing it every day, for decades. When it is taken away (and with a proper law enforcement response), they can only riot once.

I grew up in the the next little town way back in the day.East point has gone to the dogs as has most of the southside of Atlanta. The cemeteries in that area are in disrepair.I remember when they were kept up nice. No more.

Rita Crundwell ran a one-girl operation. We don't know how many were involved in this one. How many horses does one need, anyhow?

My grand parents moved to East Point in the late 50’s and had a little bungalow in the flight path for Hartsfield Airport. Not much of a city really then. All cities seem to be managed (if that’s the right word) strictly for the benefit of the political party in charge. You can bet that a lot of that 200 million was given out in “walking around money” to keep people quiet about the big bucks going into the chieftains pockets.

The accounting team likely moved on to the bigger opportunity in Detroit. No, Detroit has already started. Emergency Financial Manager Kevin Orr, has a forensic accounting team and I think the Attorney General is envolved in 60 day ( it has started about 3 weeks ago I believe ) of the Pensions in Detroit. And that is just the latest. The sorted history of malfeasance they have found post Kawame is mind-boggling. The one that got me was a building full of assets for the school system approaching or over 7 digits including 250cc motorcycles for crossing guards, bought but never used...

It is dangerous to rob banks. And you really can’t steal too much from a bank. The real thieves go into government. That’s where the big money is.
