Good post, u can’t PATENT straight-up curcumin, so they ligate it to this fancy stuff, so they can make big bucks.
Be aware that absorption of curcumin is very low —good to eat something really fatty in order to boost (typically low) absorption —cocunut oil, curry, whatevah.
Also add piperine or bioperine.
Cheap as hell, and effective.
Be aware that absorption of curcumin is very low good to eat something really fatty in order to boost (typically low) absorption cocunut oil, curry, whatevah.Hadn't heard of taking it with coconut oil (thanks!), but take it daily with black pepper. I use an extract from Natural News (a little more costly, but I think the stuff is great): http://store.naturalnews.com/Natural-Attitude-Turmeric-liquid-extract-2-fl-oz_p_125.html. (It helps with memory/thinking.)
Also add piperine or bioperine.
Be careful with those if you are taking medications at the same time. Can result in unintended hyper-absorption of prescription drugs as well.
Thanks, good advice.
I take one capsule of Turmeric daily (about 550 mg) for cancer prevention, primarily skin cancer. I have read that it can help.
Should I take more than that?
This is a “standardized” vitamin, is that okay?
you have to eat ordinary table PEPPER to boost turmeric absorption
1. Turmeric
Curcumin, possibly the most powerful antioxidant known from the popular Indian spice Turmeric, has countless health benefits. A recent study led by a research team in Munich showed that it can also inhibit formation of metastases.
Curcumin exerts anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative effects by inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), suggesting that its effect on endothelial function may be mediated by the suppression of inflammation and/or oxidative stress via down-regulation of TNF-alpha.
One of the most comprehensive summaries of a review of 700 turmeric studies to date was published by the respected ethnobotanist James A. Duke, Phd. He showed that turmeric appears to outperform many pharmaceuticals in its effects against several chronic, debilitating diseases, and does so with virtually no adverse side effects.
