Fox and Friends’ Gretchen Carlson led a panel discussion Tuesday morning addressing the now-controversial speech of Rachel Jeantel, the chief witness for the prosecution in the George Zimmerman trial. Carlson took issue with linguist John McWhorter’s defense of Jeantel’s speech as an articulate use of “Black English,” and asked if such a description was “possibly offensive.”
“Anthropologists, historians, they will say Black English is a language,” Democratic strategist Jehmu Greene said, adding:
“It’s not a language that’s gonna get you to graduate from high school, to go to college, to find a job, or to keep a job. We have to stop making excuses for this type of conversation that is happening in our communities. All too often we have leaders, like John McWhorter, talking about the history and talking about where it comes from, but like the slave trade, where this language is based from, it should be a thing of the past. It should be okay for people who have a platform, especially African Americans in the media who have a platform, to say this is unacceptable. This is not how our children should be learning. This is not the best way to move them forward”
“I assume you’ll take hits for saying that,” Carlson said.
“Absolutely,” Greene said. “Jesse Jackson did when he called it something like ‘garbage dialect.’”

Many slaves had the desire to learn and better themselves and some taught themselves to read and worked hard to pass that knowledge on to others.
I wish Rev Martin Luther King was still alive. I don't think he would approve of Al not so sharp Ton or Jessie race baiter Jackson.

If you see that your future lies in American business then learn standard English.
You're not the only one. I can't help but think they are deliberately showing that Zimmerman is innocent just to spite the a-holes that made them pursue a prosecution.

Up on Route 15 in Sussex County there is a McDonald fully staffed by local American kids; it was shocking when I saw it. Those places in my area (Kearny/Newark/Lyndhurst/Nutley) are exclusively Hispanic.
Now those men earn respect in this society. Booker T. Washington should be the patron saint of every black person right along with G.W. Carver. Up From Slavery should be required reading for ALL Americans.

Now that I think about it, we had an IGA grocery store that went out of business and the store stayed empty for several years. Then another grocery store opened in its place...all arab and when talking to each other they don’t speak english. Only one female and she is the cashier and speaks only english when you go through the line, but they aren’t getting a lot of customers. I wouldn’t buy anything that is not packaged commercially, but will stop in for Pepsi when I am out and close to the store.....
The lack of education was because their Democrat owners knew then what they know now; education is the gateway to true freedom.
