Glenn Greenwald told Fox News on Tuesday that new NSA revelations yet to be released will shock the world.
Greenwald, the journalist who worked in some capacity with NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden to reveal the organizations domestic cell phone spying program PRISM, has long teased that there is more information yet to be released in the NSA scandal.
On Tuesday, he told Fox News host Eric Bolling that the world will be shocked by the coming revelations about the organizations surveillance tactics, though otherwise played coy about the information.
Youre going to have to wait along with everybody else, Greenwald said. I will say that there are vast programs, both domestic and international spying, that the world will be shocked to learn about, that the NSA is engaged in with no democratic accountability and thats what driving our reporting.
Greenwald also said that he has not been in touch with Snowden since he left Hong Kong. Even so, Greenwald said that the U.S. government isnt really so much concerned with bringing Snowden to justice as they are with keeping controversial information from coming out.
They dont care about Edward Snowden at this point. He can no longer do anything that he hasnt already done. What they care about is making an extremely negative example out of him to intimidate future whistle blowers from coming forward because theyll think theyre going to end up like him. Thats their objective.
Greenwald also took a moment to blast David Gregory, who controversially suggested that he should be prosecuted alongside Snowden for NSA leaks.
Thomas Jefferson, 250 years ago, said those who most fear investigations are the ones who attack free press first, Greenwald said. This is what journalism is about, shining a light on what the most powerful people in the country are doing to them in the dark. So were going to continue to do that no matter what David Gregory and his friends say.
The only thing that will convince me that this story isn’t the Marxists sabotaging our intelligence gathering capabilities aimed at further weakening America’s superpower status, is a revelation that actually unravels 0bama’s fake past.
It sounds to me like Snowden is negotiating. First the whiney letter requesting to be able to travel. Then this threat of releasing damaging material. If he gets to travel then no release. We will know which way it goes soon.
Well for one thing, they can’t get to Glenn. He’s gay and relocated to Brazil because his partner could sponsor Glenn for a permanent resident visa but Glenn couldn’t sponsor him for a green card (up until last week’s Supreme Court decision, at least). That’s the reason Glenn gave up his law practice in New York and went into journalism full-time.
Its astonishing to realize Obama & Holder have prosecuted twice as many Americans under the Espionage Act as every previous president since Wilson COMBINED. They’d look unusually crooked to indict a journalist who’s a lock for a Pulitzer Prize this year, and it’d be for naught. Brazil would never extradite a permanent resident.
There should be a journalistic War Prize.. and what perfect unintended consequences a gay should bring this: a big chunk of zero’s power comes from the pink mafia.
I think the pink mafia killed Breitbart.
Wasn’t that the case where his opponent wanted to have public sex with his wife, an actress, but she refused and got a divorce?
It appears they can't get to Snowden either. However, why can't an administration that has shown its lawlessness more times than we can count put on a squeeze play on for a journalist who is clearly complicit in passing classified information?
Interesting background on Greenwald though, of which I was not aware. Thanks for the information.
