Our representatives see themselves as leaders of the world so I guess they want their subjects to start seeing themselves as citizens of the world.
This is why the folks in Washington often put the interests of other nations and peoples ahead of that of Americans. In their arrogance, they truly have become mad with power and see themselves as in charge of everyone on the planet.
I wonder how long it will be before someone or some nation gets tired of the politicians in Washington telling everyone on the planet how to run their lives and push back?
That’s already started in a “soft power” way. Problem is, the up-and-comers have a socialistic bent themselves, and of course, the current administration is enabling that by dismantling the USA’s power.
