What they want to do is claim that because he knew the law that he did so for the purpose of trying to skirt it and kill someone and then hide behind it.

Anyone who knows the law would then be at a disadvantage in a legal proceeding because they are immediately suspect.

And who knows the law better than the judge? Nobody. There’s your proof of guilt, send her to jail forthwith.
