Of course - Freepers aren't as unperceptive as you might think.
To me the point is that president Bush has been viciously trashed by Obama since he started his first run for the presidency back in 2007.
I do think president Bush is too much of a gentleman and patriot to show disrespect to the office of the president, in spite of the disgusting behavior of its present occupant.
However, it would not be disrespectful for him to just be someplace else to avoid joint appearances with Obama other than very special occasions.
I believe that democrats like Obama count on republicans to follow rules, act civilized, and show respect for traditions, institutions, etc.
They take advantage of it and when possible try to use compliant, courteous republicans to bolster their own credibility, stature, or position on issues - always relying on the fact that republicans, in general, will not stoop to the same disgusting conduct, rudeness and personal attacks that are the democrats stock in trade.
When I commented that this joint appearance was SAD, I mean that it is sad to see President Bush allow Obama to use him to appear more presidential when Obama has shown him such disrespect. I would have preferred to see President Bush just say he would be unable to cooperate due to a "scheduling conflict".
Thank you for your clarification.
