John Boehner has promised conservatives he won't let any bill lacking support from most Republicans come to a vote. There's a way around this problem: the discharge petition. If 218 members of the House sign one, then it automatically comes to the House floor for a vote. Democrats only have 201 votes, so they'd need seventeen Republicans to join them, plus one for every Democrat who defects. If Boehner wants the bill to pass, he wouldn't want to punish the handful of Republicans who sign a petition.

Correct on all counts.....unless we can somehow scare enough traitor Republican. politicians. Not likely, but still possible. Forget Ryan & Rubio. They will be paid millions by big business for selling us out.
I see Boehner believes in keeping a dumbed down staff.
True. The (former commerce sec'y) Gutierrez/Chamber of Commerce SuperPAC has likely promised to fund their re-eleciton campaigns and any attack ads against their opponents :(
EVERY Repub Rep up for re-election in 2014 should be put on notice. They either think we won’t remember, or that it won’t matter (as in, their re-election campaigns will be fully funded).
Agreed. I have called three times, the rep's phone person was very helpful, told me he would get my comments to him right away. He also said the rep thought about the issue as I did, it was encouraging.
I sent him a letter, the rep's rep called me today, telling me he moved my letter to the top of list to be read.
If you haven't done this same thing, it's important to do it now. They will have a big meeting on July 10 how to proceed with this issue. Now is the time to pressure, we have less than two weeks to make a firewall around this issue, and will no doubt have to keep pressure on until this travesty of a bill dies.
And do so over and over again
(In)Famous California pol Jesse “Big Daddy” Unruh (in)famously stated that “money is the mother’s milk of politics”. Who am I to disagree with such an illustrious man?
