Not a peep out of 0blaba's "predecessor" until NOW. For FIVE YEARS -- even after all the damage the Commie-Fascist has inflicted upon America with his "Hopey-Change" baloney -- suddenly George W. Bush NOW feels compelled to comment on 0blabla's policies?? Oh wait -- he's not even criticizing ANY of 0blabla's Commie-Fascist and corrupt governance. He's merely defending revelations of a Whistleblower that have exposed 0blabla's NSA snooping policies on We The People and violate the 4th Amendment. Thus far there is NO evidence that it has "damaged the security of country." But never mind the evidence that the government cares not a whit about the US Constitution.

Ironically it's been George W. Bush's unconstitutional Patriot Act and DHS abuse that have emboldened 0blabla to ratchet up his abuse of our privacy and liberties. And for THIS Bush steps out and defends 0blabla -- as he's about to meet with him in Africa? Coincidence? Bottom line: They BOTH "damaged the country" with their pro-globalist policies.

Can't. Make. This. Up.

Well, Snowden may have damaged the US, but he has also hurt Obama so those two facts will have to be offset to see if he is a net benefit. Since the US is in enemy hands and is currently helping Islamists, Al Qaeda and Muslims over Christians, along with subjugating its own citizens, Snowden might well be helping save the West.

“Bush on Snowden: ‘He damaged the security of the country’”

Bush: “I destroyed the Constitution to save the country. I destroyed capitalism to save the country too!”

"I put the program in place to protect the country, and one of the certainties is civil liberties were guaranteed," Bush said in the interview... "

No they aren't guaranteed. They have to be constantly fought for and protected.

We've heard reports now of people using that database without warrants.

Oversight is not control. That database is in the hands of the executive and will not be used against ordinary Americans only as long as the Executive decides to play by the rules. The mere existence of that database is a danger to all Americans.

“certainties is civil liberties were guaranteed”{

No, they weren’t. If the government can take our “papers” anytime they want without a warrant that a crime had been committed then you, sir, violated the constitution and our civil liberties.

The problem is where this program has morphed since then under democrats....It is no longer only looking at terrorist who call people in the US from overseas...it is now big brother watching everybody and everything they do.

Huge difference and it needs to be dismantled.

That’s why we call them the Stupid Party. Now Bush, and a number of Republicans in Congress, have provided Obama and his legions of America haters the political cover they need to survive this.

Bush, shut the hell up, you stayed slent for years while this country goes to crap, you stayed a coward when you and conservatives were attacked by the media and by Obama, hell he made fun of you nearly every day and mentioned you by name and you still stayed silent.

Now if frigging speaks up, the same man who wanted immigration amnesty, the same man who reached out to the Dems and lost us the house and senate, the same man who lost us the white house, the same man who never tried to stop this perverted homosexual agenda, oh yea Bush I want tot hear form you.

And Islam is the religion of peace so sayeth the former POTUS. Now we are over ran with Islam. Islam is even at the very place where passangers on two planes the religion of peace flew into the WTC. Is it being watched? No! Granny talking to Aunt Mabel about her secret cake recipe is now government knowledge though. So is Billy Bob and his wife Peggy Sue's private and personal talk on the phone and e-mails while Billy Bob was away in Bucksaw, Texas at a Potato growers convention.

When the government of this nation specifically our POTUS, our senators and our congress, in both parties start taking serious and profiling the real threats such as embedded radical Islamic terrorist and ending the threats of our open border policy with Mexico get back with me. In the mean time the e-mail I sent to Uncle Bubba about his 57 Chevy truck is none of your dern business.

Even if the programs put in place under your two terms as POTUS had honorable intentions we now have some not so honorable persons in charge. Ones with Islamic sympathies. Others simply are in it with a craving for power and control over others persons lives.

Liberty and Freedom has risk Mr President. Surrendering our Constitutional Rights & Freedom for promised protections is not a good exchange.

RE :”Ironically it’s been George W. Bush’s unconstitutional Patriot Act and DHS abuse that have emboldened ...”

Ironic is not the right word. It all fits together.

Go back to late 2001 when FNC was new and the flags were waving and if you opposed any new power proposed for homeland security then you were aiding the terrorists. Bush/Cheney/Rummy were unquestioned. GOP pretty much stuck with this thinking until maybe 2011 believe it or not,.

But by 2007 Dems were trusted more than Republicans(Bush) on national security in polls, it all fell apart.

Well, of course he is going to defend the program he put in place. Why bother asking his opinion? Just to give cover to Obama, I guess.

What a messed up country where both political parties are now in unison! Does it matter which party is now running things?

Of COURSE Bush is supporting Zero! They are very much cut from the same cloth! Spying on Americans, an unprotected border, globalism, the works.

And when Bush started spying on Americans in the name of security, and calling something completely Un-patriotic and Un-American “The Patriot Act” too many RINOs said, “He’s our guy! And the Constitution isn’t a suicide pact!”

Which is a disgrace to the founding fathers, who WERE willing to DIE for the sake of the Constitution.

It’s time we started to scream LOUD about ending ALL the spying on innocent Americans who aren’t even suspected of a crime! Heck, since Bush supports the spying, maybe we can even get the few on the left who still care about America to agree with us. This must END.

Bush also refused to criticize his successor. "It doesn't do any good," he said.

That says it all. Bush paved the way for Obama and the destruction of the USofA.

The supporters of the idea that Snowden betrayed us the People (is there more than one?) would have a better argument if the Prism program had prevented Fort Hood and Boston. Did it? It didn’t because it is about invading everyone’s privacy en masse, and no one’s in particular - that in both of the above cases would have been politically incorrect and “rassiss!”, which is why it couldn’t be done. Forest and the trees, in other words. Like bombing Dresden for no military reason at all, but psychological intimidation. You’d better watch out citizens, we’re watching your every move!

I still don't understand which part of what Snowden said damages our security.
What I get from it is that he brought to light the illegal searching and storage of
information from American citizens without a warrant, 4th Amendment violation.

Yes some argue that it's the Law. Well, they can pass a law to shove us in Ovens TOO
but that doesn't make baking us Legal and Constitutional.

Sorry, W. The program to monitor all Americans should never have been put in place. Under your leadership, I do nt believe it was abused. But the fact is, that it was there and could be abused.

There is NO conceivable probable cause...IOW, there is no eveidence that individual Americans are about to committ a crime, therefore gathering any of their personal effects or communications is unconstitutional. Period. Without that probable cause, the Constitution says you cannot do it.

Snowden did hurt that program. The program to collect data on all Americans as some kind of huge fishing net to help in anti-terror. The sad fact is, such a program can and will be used also to intimidate, coerse, and balckmail people for political purposes, and for curruption, as we have seen under Obama.

Snowden did his patriotic duty...and he will pay heavily for it. ut what he did did not hurt the country. it kept it from being hurt more by this program.

None of this stops our various agencies from gathering that same type of information form individuals or groups that we do have probable cause on. Go do that. Defend the country with it.

But never let it be used to make criminals of us all. That’s just a “bridge,” and a “switch,” and a “router,” too far that crosses a constitutional boundary and does harm to the whole system.

George W. - good man, but he’s been added to my list of Repub. politicians that can’t be trusted. He could have said nothing on this issue like he normally does, but no, he chooses to defend Obama and his administration.
