People are using Snowden to divert attention from the real issue that NSA is building files on every American as if they were criminals and only pretending that there are safeguards in place to make sure - To quote GWB: one of the certainties is civil liberties were guaranteed I think this has already been proven a lie. The DNI already is a proven liar....I dont believe GWB or the NSA on this matter.
You have indeed pierced the heart of this matter.
How serious a breach in public trust has Snowden's revelation been regarded by the Elites? GWB himself emerged out of mothball to finally weigh in on the policies of 0blabla. NOT to criticize a thousand and one additional ways America has been undermined since his departure, but on SUPPORTING and DEFENDING this one singular policy. This as "civil liberties" are coincidentally proving to be rather elusive, given the intrusiveness and over-officiousness of certain alphabet agencies.
The credibility and presumed honor of this governance and its leadership -- past and present -- have been exposed as violating the implicit trust of We The People.
On what other issues and "crises" have we been deceived?

To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I dont add you to the list...Seems a bit counter-intuitive, BUT...:-)

If NSA agents, or agents of any other government agency, approach an internet service provider or phone company and ask for information on an individual, the transfer is "voluntary" in the same way that a shopkeeper "voluntarily" pays protection money to the mobster who says "Nice store you got. Wouldn't want to see anything bad happen to it, would we now?"
The private individuals or businesses know that the Feds will find ways to make their lives miserable if they don't "voluntarily" fork over the information in question.

Ah, well, yes, but it's an outgrowth of the list history. It started as an
ad hoc list I compiled of possibly interested parties from a series of respondents to odd stories of government abuse.
I pinged those people to a couple stories and got a very vitriolic and hysterical message threatening to report me to the mods if I didn't remove her from this "Nutjob Conspiracy Ping List" right this minute!!!!
It sorta grew from there. As only FReepers can, a whole bunch of people jumped on the band-wagon and threatened to report me if I did remove them or failed to add them.
Thus the ping list got a name and an admission requirement.
It's about doubled in size since.
Compare to the therm "Big Bang" which was originally intended as a dismissal and disparagement of that particular cosmological theory of origin...

Thank goodness we have these people looking out for us. Whatever would we do without them?Walk thru airports without being molested? Buy Big Gulps in NYC without getting tossed in the hoosegow? Buy water in VA without a half-dozen LEOs climbing our vehicle without guns drawn?
Dragging these chains around in the name of "Security" is a small price to pay -- don't you think? The Illegal Invasion and de facto Amnesty of 11 40 million Mexicans and subsidizing Chech immigration of radical Islamists is UNDER CONTROL. So relax.

Funny story. I'd be honored to become a member. OR ELSE my report to the Mods won't be very pleasant.

THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT THE COUNTRY!!!!!No. It's a "Communitah" of supposed Representatives whose oaths of loyalty are sworn to uphold the US Constitution.
Nice theory, anyway.

I don't see how this is any different in principle from the local cop asking the local shopkeeper to "please, cooperate" in his investigation.
The local shopkeeper is likely going to cooperate because he wants the local police to think well of him.
This is a tale as old as time, because it is human nature.

Thank you, Amigo/Amiga. It’s an honor. And thank you for your appreciation of history. I refuse to “forget” the courageous deeds and the Patriots who made us “Americans.”

Coercion is a tale as old as time and “human nature” — yet IT remains dishonorable and unethical.

>>It's very simple: Snowden gave US military secrets to foreign powers. He is traitor.<<
Well it just got a bit more complicated. You just accused Snowden of giving foreign powers military secrets...this has not been reported.
I have not read anything that indicated he passed on military secrets. So, do you have a link to this? What I understand, Snowden released info regarding NSA spying on it's own citizens.

What branch of the military does the NSA fall under?

The NSA is part of the Department of Defense and is not controlled by any specific branch of the armed forces.
Its current director is an Army general, but his predecessor was Air Force.

I see.
Then doesn't it follow that using the military against US citizens on American soil is a direct violation of Posse Comitatus Act?
