It was a metaphysical certitude that liberal media members were going to once again show their hypocritical colors and defend Alec Baldwins homophobic attack on a British reporter Thursday.
ABCs David Muir came through for the high-strung actor on Saturdays World News actually calling the attack an alleged slur (video follows with transcript and commentary):
At the beginning of the program, Muir teased:
DAVID MUIR: And under fire. Paula Deen losing millions in just a week after admitting using a racial slur. Tonight the other case. The newest alleged slur from Alec Baldwin. Some asking why no backlash for him.
So to the folks at ABC News, writing Im going to find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and Im gonna f--k you up is an alleged slur?
So is If [sic] put my foot up your f--king ass, George Stark, but Im sure youd dig it too much?"
Those are alleged slurs?
Of course, ABC News chose not to share that second tweet with viewers. They must have thought it was too incriminating.
Such is how liberal media members defend transgressors they support.
But that was just the beginning:
MUIR: Well tonight actor Alec Baldwin is apologizing after several ugly tweets have him in hot water again. But this evening, some are asking if there's a sort of celebrity double standard here as Paula Deen pays dearly after admitting to using slurs herself. Here's ABC's Gio Benitez.
GIO BENITEZ: It's the latest twitter tirade from Alec Baldwin, this time directed at a reporter who wrote about his wife.
I'm going to find you, you toxic little queen and I'm going to expletive you up.
The British reporter had alleged that Baldwins wife had been tweeting from the pew at James Gandolfini's funeral this week. Baldwin denied the accusations unleashing a flurry of disparaging tweets to his one million followers.
HOWARD BRAGMAN, ABC NEWS CONSULTANT, REPUTATION.COM: There he goes again. This is a guy who has a history of throwing tantrums, whether in public or on social media.
BENITEZ: This latest tantrum happened in the same week that celebrity chef Paula Deen lost a reported $12.5 million worth of corporate sponsors following the revelation that she once used a racial slur. Just months ago, Baldwin reportedly argued with a New York Post photographer, using a racial epithet, and calling him a crack head and drug dealer. Baldwin denied it.
Now some on Twitter are comparing the two celebs. Quote Paula Deen's career destroyed by words she used 30 years ago, but Alec Baldwin has profane threatening rant on Twitter.
BRAGMAN: Alec Baldwin is kind of a loveable rogue. We're kind of sensitized to the fact that Alec Baldwins had another outburst.
BENITEZ: Last night Baldwin apologized to the gay community saying, The words had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyones sexual orientation. Baldwins wife is now speaking out on Twitter, defending her husband, saying some of her best friends are gay and she would never have married a homophobic man.
Yes, Benitez really did say some of her best friends are gay.
I didnt make that up.
And this is how liberal media members cover for one of their own.
Just imagine how much different this segment would have been if Baldwin were a conservative.
so the ‘alleged news satation’ calls alec’s slur an ‘alleged slur’? I am allegedly apathetic
At this point a *real* news organization would ask Alec Baldwin the question, "Then what did you mean when you used the term, 'queen'?"
alec’s codename will now be “hysteria”, wife’s name remains same.
He was obviously attempting to belittle the man based on sexual orientation.
But... he’s a liberal and should get a free pass from his buddies... which he got.
He had to kiss a little GLAAD butt and agree to do some charity even or something and mail a check shakedown, but no word out of them against him and he can do what he wants.
Meanwhile, Paula Dean... who also supported Obama, btw...
This goes to show you that “hateful words” are only a weapon to be used by the Left against their enemies. They are used to put their opponents on the defensive. The friends of the Left can use “hateful words” with impunity and it will never affect them.
If the opponents of the Left were to ignore the accusations of using “hateful words,” then the would quickly lose their effectiveness. But, so far “our” leaders prefer to cower and punish all those who have been accused.

David Muir
I remember back in the 70s blacks knew the whites were lying when they’d say “I have friends who are black”.
What Ms. Baldwin said, not in these words, was “I don’t have anything against blacks. I think everyone should own two or three.”
“BRAGMAN: Alec Baldwin is kind of a loveable rogue”
Maybe to them...

Baldwin is a columnist for The Huffington Post.
Baldwin abuses people and his sponsors allow him to make fun of the incident and even gets a gig on Saturday Night Live to continue making fun of it.
In December 2011, Baldwin was on an American Airlines flight at Los Angeles airport, and playing Words with Friends on his phone while waiting for takeoff. When instructed to put away the “electronic device” by the flight attendant, he reportedly became belligerent, and was eventually removed from the plane. He later publicly apologized to the passengers who were delayed but not the airline or federal regulators.
A 2012 commercial for Capital One credit cards, for which Baldwin is a spokesperson, makes humorous reference to the event: A Viking character from the ad series asks about the phone Baldwin is using, to which Baldwin facetiously replies that it is not to be used on the runway, ending with a chiding “No!” A commercial for Best Buy also humorously referenced the event: Words With Friends co-creators Paul Bettner and David Bettner are on a plane and are interrupted by a flight attendant looking down at them, clearing her throat and signaling them to put their phones away.
Baldwin also made a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment posing as the captain of the plane from which he was removed.
And while Alec Baldwin’s Twitter account was gone, his wife’s remained active.
“I don’t know what hurts more: people randomly and maliciously writing lies about you, or the people who actually believe them,” the 29-year-old yoga instructor wrote Thursday.
“My husband fights for me fiercely. It hurts to be misunderstood and it hurts to see your loved one in pain-even more so when she is pregnant,” she added in a series of tweets. “It is shameful the bullying that the internet allows for. ‘Reporters’, ‘publications’, and anonymous posters. Rage, greed and pettiness hurt. I hope that this reporter knows how much pain and drama he has caused from his poor journalism. Lying and bullying are shameful.”
And on Friday morning she offered what might make it right for her: “I would like a real apology,” she wrote.

She says the internet makes it easy for bullying and “rage, greed and pettiness hurts”. But she truly doesn’t see that she is descibing her husband.
And that is the problem with liberals. Their hatred for anyone who disagrees with them blinds them from their own bad deeds.
David Muir is gay too, not a big secret, but he chooses to be discreet about it.
David Muir is gay too, not a big secret, but he chooses to be discreet about it.
Discreet? He has never whispered a word about it. I hope he never does. Of course if people keep asking him and talking about it, he will certainly say well if people think I am, why no come out. I hope people stop pestering him. That is the biggest problems with people coming out.....nosy bodies who say “come on, it’s no big deal, just announce you are gay”. Can you imagine people doing that to people in the 1950’s. I tell you a lot of this acceptance is the fault of the straight community.
Every time I’ve met him he’s been a class act and a gentleman, I have a lot of respect for David because of the fact that he keeps his personal life to himself. He is actually a lot more gregarious and funny when off camera but still very down to earth.
That is good to hear.
