Can anyone explain?

Not sure if it was the same thread, but there was a thread yesterday (or maybe this morning ?), IIRC, that the poster was accused of being a blog-pimp.

The reasons:

It was posted by the owner of the website (the blog)

It was an excerpt (did not contain all the article)

The 'poster' was not responding to anyone's comments.

This 'activity' happens all the time. People try to get people to come to their website so they get hits (i.e. more money).

This is tantamount to FREE ADVERTISING and Jim Robinson doesn't allow ADVERTISING nor accept ADVERTISING for income purposes.

It may be that your son was didn't understand all the 'rules' and was doing what he did in innocence. Perhaps he should have just 'asked' what he was doing wrong. (if he did anything wrong) . I don't know what thread for sure you mean, so I may be way off base.

If your son has a blog, the 'unwritten' rules are that you need to post all of the content of the article, so that readers don't HAVE to go to your BLOG just so you can get hits and they can finish reading the article. If you don't do that, then you are quickly rebuffed and your thread can be removed.

I hope this helps.

Well, the poster was IChing, (my 50 yr old son) but he does not have a blog or any financial interest in one).

He posts to a blog, maybe once a week, and then posts here, because he (probably idealistically) thought Free Republic netizens might be interested.

He always answered to his posts, and offered reasonable comments.

I would have to go back and check to see if he posted the entire content of his articles, every time, as far as I know. If he didn’t, it might have been that he was concerned about the complicated “excerpting” internet rules that confuse us all.

Many newcomers to FR get tangled up in the arcane rule history of FR, and I do worry that we sometimes might be just a tad-bit paranoid in our rush to quick judgement.

That said, obviously we must be on guard for trolls, blog-pimpers, infiltrators, and the usual - NSA recording our every keyboarded word.

I have been on this forum for many years, and as far as I understand, he violated no rules. He only posted to articles that he had written, his own opinion on currant news items of conservative interest.

I guess the only legitimate criticism that could be lodged against him is that he posted in the wrong category. Some Freepers may not consider tapes posted on the net by someone else (other than Rachel Jeantel’s voice) recorded by Crump as not being worthy of “breaking news”.

How are we to know what is considered “breaking news” by the mods?

I am getting really tired of all this, and it has seriously dampened my enthusiasm for this website. That said, he has been re-instated, after review by the mods, but I am still so very saddened at what has happened to a forum that was always my homepage.

My thanks for your clear explanation, FRiend.

That said, it is time for this li’l ol’ lady to retire for the evening. I want to be alert in the morning to see the Zimmerman trial, for I find it very important for the future of justice in our beloved land, and worthy of “breaking news”.

Sure wish we had an edit button here!

The post that got him “zotted” today was to a totally different site, not one to which he had ever posted an article.

A few Freepers ganged up on him for maybe three or four earlier posts, and some of us old-timers were appalled at the way he was treated by them.

Fortunately, the post was reviewed, and he has been re-instated.

Please keep your eagle eye out for him, and stop this nonsense if it starts up again. He has served his country faithfully for many years, and does not deserve this treatment from some among us.

For those of you who have served, you will know what I mean by the below -

I say again:

My son does not have a blog. He posts his online opinions to a blog, where he is a “guest”, because he thought they might be of interest to the rest of us, and these are in the MSM breaking news stories of the day.

If the Zimmerman trial is not on our list of breaking news regarding the failure of our judicial system, the we Freepers are just “spring peepers”, in a big pot of slowly warming water, too dumb to jump out.

Good night, all. Need some shut-eye before I see which way the temperature goes in tomorrow morning’s water bath.

When I initially was posting my ClashDaily.com columns here on FR, I would post an excerpt, for two reasons, 1. I had no clue there was a gestapo organized against such a practice(I haven’t read posting rules since maybe once when I was on FR back in 2004), and 2. I did want to drive readers to the site, but really only out of vanity—I get no money at all from traffic, but I get encouragement to continue writing if my columns get lots of “likes” and “shares” and Tweets from the page itself. Thus began the onslaught from ruthless Freepers accusing me of all manner of transgressions, which took me awhile to process...

Then, I ran into a gang-swarm of the same hostility/got zotted earlier this evening when I posted what I believe to be a HUGE bombshell breaking scandal on the Zimmerman case, and dared link to a blog...whew
