I know what you mean about being so angry that you could imagine doing something violent. I have that level of anger about what is happening to my country.
But I have to remember that this is not my final home - I AM just passing through, and while I should care about what’s happening and do my part to impede the left’s Godless agenda, the state of my spirit is more important than politics. This isn’t heaven, after all. We live in a fallen world.
To “keep” a Republic you need a more or less virtuous populace. When we are lectured by the Supreme Court about the virtue of gay “marriage” and lies are celebrated as truth, we have ceased to be a virtuous society. I don’t think the founding fathers would be surprised - sad, yes - but they understood the nature of man.
I have been struggling with how to channel my anger, as every day we are deluged with more evidence of how our country is slipping away. I need to find a “rock” from which I can view this mess without becoming either murderously angry or despondent. For me, the answer is the Word. That’s my rock. I know who will ultimately win this war, Jesus Christ. In the meantime, we must fight these battles, but with the knowledge that He will overcome when the time is right. That knowledge provides me with some distance from the problem.
The most important thing is to guard my heart from hatred and self-righteousness. Gandhi and Martin Luther King come to mind as role models for fighting back. Standing strong for your principles, but with dignity and without violence.
Thanks for letting me think these things out on the page. I have been really upset lately - and am still frustrated in terms of WHAT to do and HOW to fight back. I’m looking forward to Mark Levin’s book coming out in August about how to fight back. I suspect it has to do with using the power of the states to push back, but I’m anxious to hear the details.
Keep listening to the talk shows but also don’t allow yourself to be used anymore.
Glenn Beck is clearest right now but they all have been at best used by the political machine.
I hope Levin, El Rushbo and even Hannity find some clear thinking and courage to stand up in a moral and honest way....
