Zimmerman Trial Day 4 – End-of-Day Analysis & Video of State’s Witnesses
Legalinsurrection ^

Posted on 06/27/2013 8:50:30 PM PDT by chessplayer

Once again, it was simply not a very good day at all for the prosecution. The primary State witnesses today were Rachel Jeantel, Jenna Lauer, and Selma Mora. The first had her credibility substantively destroyed, the second was powerfully–almost humiliatingly–co-opted by the defense, and the third provided testimony entirely consistent with the defense’s theory of lawful self-defense. There was also some (I expect temporary) hubbub that O’Mara may have inadvertently opened the door to allow the State to introduce evidence of specific prior bad acts by George Zimmerman, and I address that in detail, as well, below.

As expected, politics influences how people are viewing this. MSNBC (and the left in general) thinks all four days have been disasters for the defense, with today being the worst yet. They think Jeantel's testimony was magnificent and seals the fate of Zimmerman, and that West was a bully beating up on a young girl.

That’s not what HLN viewers think.

Their online poll showed 56% of respondents saying Jeantel was good for the DEFENSE, and 33% saying she was good for the prosecution.

The prosecution is trying to get to “George Zimmerman committed murder beyond any reasonable doubt.”

When most people think your STAR WITNESS was better for the DEFENSE than for the prosecution, I’d call that a case that shows every sign of unraveling.

It has become common knowledge that Jeantel has perpetrated a number of lies on this case, both under oath and otherwise, and West made certain to touch on each of these, albeit with a relatively light hand. She lied about her age–she was 18-years-old not 16-years-old at the time, she lied about why she did not attend Martin’s funeral or wake, she lied about her name to Martin’s mother and others, and so on.

For many of these lies she offered a relatively innocuous excuse–she didn’t go the funeral because she doesn’t like to see dead bodies, for example. But the sheer number and variety of them cast Jeantel as someone who was perfectly comfortable creating a fabrication if it served her convenience or purposes.

If I'm a juror, and the sheer number of times Jeantel has lied, both under oath and not under oath, is pointed out to me, I conclude that nothing she says can be trusted.

I know, I know. I'm not a juror.

I will bet that the letter written to Travon mother was :
#1) written “in CURSIVE” by TRAVON”S MOTHER, to Travon’s mother
#2) Written at Travon’s Mothers RESIDENCE
#3) signed by ‘Dee Dee’ /Rachel with Travon’s Mother present
#4) the opportunity to write the letter was ‘set-up’ by attny CRUMP
#5 ) that if so , Crump should be charged with witness tampering and be disbarred !

He has motive / created opportunity / created tainted testimony / assisted in falsified testimony !

They know better and are laying the groundwork for outrage when the verdict comes out "wrong".

Piers Morgan is unreal. He had a black guest on who thinks Zimmerman is guilty, and she told him the word ‘cracker’ is a racist slur against whites. Morgan wasn’t having it. He kept trying to get her to say it wasn’t a racist slur.

Serious, what did they see in her? I’m opened minded enough to think the knock knock joke was really dumb although it was told by the guy I’m cheering for.
It’s really a scary thing about human behavior to see how some can continue to believe what they want regardless of the evidence.

Maybe I just haven’t been paying attention, but when this girl is called Trayvon’s girlfriend I just don’t believe it. He was trying to be this in shape muscular ultra cool thug guy from posted photos, and she’s probably just shy of 300 pounds. I don’t see her as Trayvon’s type and I’m not trying to offend anyone. Also, I’m sure they have the records that say he was talking to her phone the night he died, but how do they know she was on the other end of the line? Did the NSA provide that info? Was the actual person that had been on her phone to honest or to criminal to not be a credible witness and so they dragged her lying butt out? She supposedly wrote a letter explaining what happened but can’t read it? WTH? Who wrote that letter she signed? If Trayvon was so scared why didn’t he call 911 himself? Why is calling someone a “white ass cracker” just a cultural thing and not racist?

When most people think your STAR WITNESS was better for the DEFENSE than for the prosecution, I’d call that a case that shows every sign of unraveling.

When the state has completed their case and the defense makes the pro forma motion that the case be dismissed for lack of evidence, I'd venture to say there is every likelihood that the judge will agree.

The problem with that is the propaganda job that the MSM has been engaged in. People who are following the trial would be outraged at such an outcome. And riots would doubtless ensue.

Consequently, the entire case will probably have to run its course -- just because the media no longer does its job.

The racism implied by the “cracker ain’t racist” statements suggest that Trayvon himself WAS racist, thus confronted someone violently instead of talking to Zimmerman, if his behavior was innocent.
And the revelation of black racism against whites isn’t going to engender warm fuzzies by a mostly white jury.
