To: IChing; All

saw her saying something, but am not that good at lip-reading, particularly if not in my native mid-west “whitey school speak”.

This trial is so depressing. All I can do is wonder if everything I learned in 7th grade Civics class (back in the late 1950’s) is no longer “relevant” to modern ::America::.

I feel so sad for my grandchildren that they will never learn to write “cursive”, will no longer be able to read cursive, and will live in a world of “now-speak”, texting, and sound-bites, in whatever patois is spoken by someone testifying on our courts of law. They will have no critical thinking skills, will have no way to navigate the “snares” (see lines from hymn below)

We are in big trouble, friends, and I doubt we will be able to get out of it. Maybe it is time that we take a lesson from Jennifer Lauer, and duck down, after running upstairs.

(At least those of us whose hairs have gone grey)

But, deny God, Christ, or, most importantly, The Holy Spirit - never, ever!!!!!

Just line me up and shoot me. Being that I grew up when everyone smoked like a chimney, I wouldn’t refuse that last cigarette, either.

Two lines from my favorite hymn, “Amazing Grace”...

“Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.”

I fear we have more to endure. Stay strong.

Do people sign their names with block letters now?!
