Thanks for the clarification. I looked it up and cleared up one of my misconceptions. I think the public has the idea that all EMT's are paramedics. If she was just an EMT without the paramedic qualification, there is indeed very little she could have done for the woman, within the bounds of her competence. She could have done things she was unqualified to do, but that would have exposed her to legal and professional liability if the woman had died as a result of her aid.
BTW, I hope the perp got plenty of overtime while on coffee break.
That's the most important aspect of the story.
So long as her union position and pension are safe, why make such a fuss over a trivial matter like this?
