That depends on what is in the rape kit. If they put the “morning after” pill in there, then the statement is true. One can also reasonably argue that if the use of the rape kit and examination results in the staff even recommending the morning after pill, then it can cause abortions.

Are you saying they shove the morning after pill into the vagina?

Oh dear Lord.

We are all in trouble if many pro-life people think this way.

THe primary purpose of that pill would be to prevent pregnancy, but it would have the same effect — a woman would not be pregnant after 20 weeks.

The better point was that the woman had 20 weeks to decide she was raped and had to get rid of the baby. Five months is more than enough time, so they really didn’t need a rape or incest exception.

The morning after pill is not RU-486. It prevents or delays ovulation, just like the birth control pill does and does not kill an existing pregnancy. This is why it’s not very effective. (Only 80-90% effective depending on the study and the time of the cycle when it’s taken.)

What’s more, it seems to be less and less effective the more a woman uses it.

That is why I’m horrified that this pill is going to be available to teens without counseling or education. Girls who ‘go through with the moment’ thinking that they can just take this pill the next day are going to be in for a rude awakening when they turn up pregnant a couple of weeks later.

It is my prediction that we’re going to have an ‘unwanted pregnancy’ baby-boom within the next couple of years because of an over-reliance on this pill.
