Twenty-three Boy Scouts were hospitalized after a lightning strike in New Hampshire on Monday night, a fire chief said.
Chief David Parenti, of Belmont Fire Station, said the Scouts, aged from 12 to 16, were at the Griswold Scout Reservation in Belmont when the incident happened.
Parenti told NBC station WHDH that many of the injuries were minor burns. He said six scouts were given cardiac monitors because the burns were in the chest area.
However, he said this was done mostly as a precaution.

You got your wish, they are ok. Minor burns, seems they were huddling under a tarp. I suspect the tarp took the brunt of the arc-flash.
Perhaps one should watch ones mouth when the big one gets away.
Can’t Resist thinking you have low IQ.
I’m a Scoutmaster. I’m 100% against the BSA decision. We are probably shutting down our troop in December WHEN THE NEW POLICY GOES INTO EFFECT. Yes, that was yelling.
We are also going to summer camp next week. And we will enjoy it.
Evidently those who make the connection will be showing up soon in New Hampshire carrying signs saying God Says Kill Boy Scouts. So nice to see you, Ms. Phelps-Roper. How are things in Kansas?
Dittos. Perhaps those gloating over this can call the parents of affected Scouts and tell them it’s all their own fault for sinful lifestyles. But hey, what do these infidels expect, eh? Sinners in the hands of an angry God, and those who cast judgement. But of course they fear not, as clearly THEY will be welcomed into heaven (and in some cases, they’ll get 72 virgins, too). Just sayin’.
Exactly. Well said. :o(
Glad you will leave the corrupt national organization. Hope you are safe at camp.
My IQ isn’t low....just giving my first thoughts at the event. To read anything sinister into it would be a mistake.
How often were scouts injured before the decision?
I hope y’all find another organization to join instead of just shutting down.
