Snowden heads to Venezuela via Moscow, Havana: airline source

Former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden will fly from Moscow to Cuba on Monday and then plans to go to Venezuela, a source at the Russian airline Aeroflot said on Sunday.

The source said Snowden was already on his way to Moscow from Hong Kong and would leave for Havana within 24 hours.

The South China Morning Post also reported that Snowden had left Hong Kong for Moscow and that his final destination might be Ecuador or Iceland. The WikiLeaks anti-secrecy website said Snowden was heading for an unnamed "democratic nation".

The flight to Moscow prompted speculation that Snowden might remain in Russia, whose leaders accuse the United States of double standards on democracy and have championed public figures who challenge Western governments.

But Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said he was unaware of Snowden's plans and the Foreign Ministry declined immediate comment on whether he had asked for asylum.

“but humiliating the US before the entire world with its insubordination.”

Insubordination? I do believe that HK is part of Communist China! ;-)

And frogmarch Snowden in front of the international media.

The usurper does NOT want this guy anywhere near a tv camera. Y'all have been bamboozled again. As if that's his real flight plan, ha. No way.

If USA does not have to respect the law, no one else will have to give us a break.

Similar argument on “torture”. We should not do it or they will do it to our troops. They probably will do it anyway, always have, always will.

It is best and moral to take the lawful, higher road, not get down in the gutter with the scum.

Vigilanteism is not a sound USA foreign policy.

He probably has half a dozen tickets from all over the world in his name but that doesn’t mean he is using any of them.

You are not alone. I feel that way too. I believe in the true American dream, freedom. The freedoms enumerated in our treasured founding documents.

There should be none of this ubercontrol in our “government by the people. “ There should be no calls of traitor to anyone no matter how sleazy who tells the Owners of this Country — us, people, us! — that there is wrong doing in this government.

I don’t care what country the guy goes to.i don’t care much about him. But I appreciate knowing what our government has been doing TO US. We never voted for this. And the politicians in congress are mostly literally in there to get power and money for themselves; they are not representing us. That is partly just human nature. But the founders would have wanted us to keep working toward true representative government, and as much freedom as we can achieve without impinging on the freedoms of others.

Independence Day approaches, and I don’t know any more if the country I love exists, and if I even should be celebrating this country with such a totalitarian oligarchy as it now stands.

Am doing my best to make sense of what appears to be senselessly pursuing someone that only told what was already known, and am having difficulty believing Snowden has committed a crime.

Exactly. Either he knows something big or this chase is nothing but a distraction of another big something. Hey, he's taken the focus off the other scandals so who knows.

Yes, I too have been giggling over the Snowden Global Tour or Around the World in 80 hours tour.

Here’s what we know so far:

1) We don’t have a clue where he is.
2) if he had dirt the Chinese wanted then a) we probably would have never learned his name and b) he would not have escaped China
3) He’s gotta have some serious dirt on something - and what ever that is, we’re not being told about it.
4) The moment he got to Russia, any thing else we’re hearing is mere rumor and conjecture.

For all we know, this dude could be in Detroit. All I know is whatever happens, I want the movie rights. Pass the popcorn.

Thank you! Amazed that so many here are blindly following the words of a government that only a few weeks ago proved untrustworthy. Snowden provided a public service. When will the politicians who approved this and the people who implemented this illegal spying on Americans see jail?

To determine who has Snowdens wheel...because he sure isn’t driving....look at who has front page and funding this...Assange and Wikileaks.

As for his girl-friend...He won’t be the first who hooks up with a pole dancer while he awaits his orders...then drops her in the gutter on the way out.
