If you are a family of four, without any employer based coverage, making around $50k total a year, your monthly premiums are going to be about $450 a month. Not cheap, but still heavily subsidized.
So who is really getting screwed, besides all the people that pay heavier taxes to pay for the program? Single males, who won't get much of a subsidy, but get to pay an insurance rate that covers women in their most fertile years. The upper middle class who enroll in this program, who will see there isn't any difference between making $85k and $95k because every extra dollar made either goes for income tax or health insurance as the government subsidy goes to zero.
The biggest screw of all, that same family of four above if dad is offered employee and not family coverage. While before he could have elected for high deductible or catastrophic coverage before, now in order to have insurance he will have to enroll in at least a "bronze" plan, but doesn't qualify for a subsidy. How many $50k families can afford $1200-1500 a month in premiums. That's a house payment. The democrats went on and on about the "doughnut hole" in the medicaid part D legislation. It is nothing compared to the black hole many Americans are going to face with this screwup in the ACA bill.
The skinny is that the main beneficiaries will be illegal aliens, promiscuous single women and druggies. IOW, Obama's people.
The people who are going to feel the opposite effect are mostly not Obama's people.
