You probably havent been paying much attention lately to the Affordable Care Act. You may not even realize that Obamacare still exists about 40 percent of people in a recent national survey werent aware that its the law.
But the national health care overhaul that was enacted three years ago is alive and might even be well. And starting right now, its going to be a lot harder to ignore.
Sunday marks the final 100 days before Oct. 1, when uninsured people can begin applying for health insurance and premium subsidies through the laws new state and federal marketplaces. Government agencies and insurance companies have been scrambling to get them ready.
If they work as intended, these government websites will make it possible to select a health plan and sign up for coverage in a way similar to how online travel sites let you pick a flight, a hotel and a rental car. Coverage starts Jan. 1, but people can keep enrolling through March 31.
Youll probably start seeing commercials, finding brochures at health fairs, even getting a knock on the door from canvassers with information about applying for insurance. The goal is to reach the estimated 30 million people who qualify for enrollment through the marketplaces. Polls show the vast majority of the uninsured know little or nothing about the marketplaces, formerly referred to as exchanges.
People are confused. Theres a lot of misinformation out there. People are going to need help, said Ryan Barker, vice president for health policy at the Missouri Foundation for Health in St. Louis.

In 100 days folks will begin to sign up..
In 200 days folks will see there is free money in this deal
In 1000 days its and enshrined entitlement..
It is not a situation with only two posible choices.
keep in mind, there is no fine, if you arrange
your federal-income-tax witholding properly.
don’t buy Obamacare,
until you are very ill,
then.
look closely at premiums, deductables,
and co-pays.
> I think the way it works, is, you have to provide a copy of proof of insurance with your tax return. If you can’t prove you have health insurance, IRS fines you and each year you don’t have proof, the fine goes up.
I predict HUGE taxpayer revolt. The have and do nothings will continue to berate us and support 0 while they sit on their cans and collect benefits.
I love the way they phrase it as people who now qualify for insurance.
Who they are talking about are many people barely able to meet their monthly bills now being told they just got a new monthly expense for health insurance. Even if it is at a reduced rate, money you don’t have is hard to come by.
Many won’t get the shock of it until they do their taxes.
Tell that to the IRS
Apparently Americans, in general, must suffer much more before they stop being supportive of anti-A.ericsn LIBs...much much more.
The skinny is that the main beneficiaries will be illegal aliens, promiscuous single women and druggies. IOW, Obama's people.
The people who are going to feel the opposite effect are mostly not Obama's people.
Was in the outdoor store yesterday and noticed ARs and ammo are plentiful again and priced affordable. I guess the gov got its supply and as with other financial policies sucked the savings and income from hard working Americans.
What is that? Usually medicaid is not something that's forced on you. Are you sure this bill forces health insurance on you?
Even if it does, I think AZ will be a lot lees vigorous in their enforcement than CA In CA, they love to pull you over for stupid things like not wearing your seat-belt. I think of AZ more like Virgina where I've been lately. I never wear my seat-belt and in four years have never been stopped - they're not "true believers " in this nonsense "nanny state" as CA is. I'm under the impression AZ is not supportive of the nanny state either.
Half the population is below average.
They walk among us ... and they vote.
Everybody who plans to sign up raise yer hand. I can just see the 20 somethings racing to sign up for $350 per month premiums. Yeh thats going to happen. :-)
“wonder how many of us are ready to go to jail over it.”
Count me in. First I’ll ask for a warrant for the collection of my information, and I’ll plead the 5th if asked for it.
We are in a world of suck!
