Why Sarah Palin Continues To Lead CHQ Straw Poll
ConservativeHQ ^ | June 20, 2013 | George Rasley

Posted on 06/20/2013 6:37:17 PM PDT by Bratch

Sarah Palin, former Alaska Governor, Tea Party inspiration and FOX News contributor leads our CHQ Republican presidential straw poll, as she has for the past several weeks.

No doubt some will attribute Palin’s lead to her active community of online supporters – and there is no doubt that Governor Palin’s online network gives her an advantage in any net-based vote.

But that, in our opinion, is not why the feisty Alaskan continues to lead in our poll.

Plenty of the other potential Republican presidential candidates have active online communities.

What many of the other candidates lack – even some of the candidates with otherwise impeccable conservative credentials – is Palin’s “tell it like it is” authenticity.

And in our opinion, it is that authenticity that keeps Governor Palin in the lead.

Who else is going to say, “We are so screwed” when Obama announced his new national security team?

And then back it up with facts detailing why Obama’s choices of Susan Rice for national security advisor and Samantha Power for U.N. ambassador were dangerous for America.

Who else among the potential Republican presidential nominees is going to go to the Faith and Freedom Conference to take-on the faithless and freedom eroding Republican establishment by saying, "Don't you dare marginalize us (conservatives)?"

Few of the others would choose to.

And who else would call-out the White House press corps for their ridiculously self-absorbed correspondent’s dinner by tweeting, “The rest of America is out there working our asses off while these DC assclowns throw themselves a #nerdprom.”

No one, that’s who.

Palin is popular with the grassroots in some measure because she defies the pseudo-intellectual conventions of inside-the-Beltway political conversation – or what most people outside-the-Beltway call double talk or B.S.

But attributing her lead in the CHQ straw poll or popularity at the grassroots strictly to her sometimes colorful speeches is much too shallow an analysis to explain Palin’s enduring popularity.

Establishment Republican Party leaders and their sometime abettors in the establishment media would like to forget that the Tea Party rebellion of 2009 and 2010 was presaged by the outpouring of grassroots support for Sarah Palin in the 2008 presidential campaign.

The Tea Party rebellion was as much a rebellion against the entrenched GOP leadership as it was a rebellion against Barack Obama and his liberal agenda.

Tea Partiers and grassroots conservatives frustrated by the slow pace of change in the establishment GOP or its tendency to equate change with lurching to the left see in Palin one who articulates our own frustration with big government Republicanism and the abandonment of the Republican Party’s support for traditional marriage and other elements of the traditional values agenda. And we vote for Sarah Palin because she’s one of us.

“Sarah and Cruz please run”

Yeah. I’ve seen the light. No more mamby pamby candidates even if they are nice guys/gals. If Cruz can help stop the immigration bill in the senate he has my vote and support. Sarah is battle tested and ready too.

Palin would’ve had an easy win in 2012? In what universe would that be? I love Sarah as much as anyone, but... winning vs. Obama?

I agree Sarah has always been fav.

It has taken me a while to realize, she actually could have lost last time around, just like Romney did.

Fact is, Obama has a propaganda department which used to be America’s free press.

They are no longer free, they are overwhelmingly on one side of every issue (the Democrats), but they are particularly stuck there - with regard to everything Obama.

I half suspect what Palin may have decided was two-fold: One she gets four full, rich years with her family as a mom.

Then she runs in 2016.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.

You must be joking. The only reason why Mittens lost was because he is also Obama, just a white version with a stronger chin, who also believes he won’t become a God until after death, whereas Obama thinks it’s already happened.

staytrue ~ :” Palin leads because she has not had to vote on anything.”

Not true !
Palin is a leader who , despite being mocked by the fifth column (press/ at White Hut insistance), has stayed true to core values
and is a great stratigist .
She has chosen and picked primary winners who resound with the electorate ; she is a guerilla warrior princess, and the Demotrurds know it !
That is why the fifth estate craps on her . Frequently !
By running for office , she exposes herself and her family to ridicule and needless publicity .
However , she has something that is missing in the White Hut right now ,... Character, leadership , and a moral compass .
She has singlehandedly drawn the ire of the Librturd media who would attempt to destroy her and her family.
She has the tenacity to remain focused on the ills and problems of the country , without claiming recognition or self-congradulations.
The state of the country is her reward , and she is NOT an empty suit , nor an empty chair ; she is leadership which this country needs !
And she accepts responsibility for her actions ~ much better than to “ Blame Bush “ for 5 years like the leaderless adminsitration !

“Not vote on anything “~ then why is it that Alaskans get tax rebates every year ,
while the rest of us struggle to meet out tax obligations ?
She made that happen !
Get your head our of your butt ,.. and get real !!

Dittos to that!!! (I was for West for Sarah’s VP until I found out he supported and voted for that Nazi Germany style NDAA. No true conservative could/can/would ever go for that crappola). Cruz would be a perfect VP pick for Sarah in my opinion.

Palin is the “real thing “ !! She is the real deal !!
She definitely isn’t a RHINO
and that is what the established elite Repubs want .. a Libturd in Republicrat clothing.

Do you want to see what a Libturd in Republicrat clothing looks like ?
See John McClain, see John Boehner, etc., ..
All these Johns are lookin for someone to ‘pimp’ !!

IMO, she wanted to enter the race.

I think “something” happened after her September speech in Iowa that caused her to change her mind. Whether family or Republican Party pressure or some outside influence, I don’t know.

That is exactly my thoughts. I remember that speech. I believe it was Indianola??

Sarah was on fire. One could tell she was laying out a plan to restore our Republic.

I wish we did know what happened to change her mind..

..............she took herself because in her heart she is so smart that she KNEW that she could not beat the Obama machine AND the Marxist pigs and she wanted to live (politically) to run again another day. Because she is so young and beautiful, she can do this!

Had she run and lost, all of us who support her unconditionally would then have had to write her off forever! I personally am glad she is still viable and there is a chance she could run and win!

Palin leads because she has never done anything else, her entire 20 year political career has been as the leader, the conqueror, the dominant person, the force and reformer.

Remember that she earned her reputation as a bold and reformist Governor taking on both parties, and we all saw as she became the dominant personality of 2008 and created the first time spectacle of a party’s presidential candidate, running against the other party’s vice-presidential candidate and being knocked around by her and rattled and off message, and her leadership was the origins of a national rebellion and emboldening of conservatism in America.

To accomplish something in the US nationally, you need 218 in the house and 51 in the senate and the president to agree with you.

Chances are there are some who agree with most of what you want to pass but not all of it.

So to get their votes, your bill may not be exactly what you want.

So you get to vote no and not pass a bill that is 70% of what you want or you get to vote yes and get a bill that is 30% of what you don’t want.

Palin has never done that so she looks “pure”. In fact, she is a do nothing when compared to Ryan, Bohner, etc.

“Palin leads because she has never done anything else”

Sorry but Palin is a quitter. She quit as governor and she quit as a potential candidate.

Palin quit after the presidential campaign, when she began being bombarded with legal challenges which (she) was forced to pay.

Alaska is unique in that way. Every democrat in the state and elsewhere, directed their attention at destroying her.

They did not. Now she leads, for the next presidency.

Who do you support please?

You obviously have an agenda on this thread, and it is to attack Sarah Palin.

You will not do so, without challenge.

Sorry but Palin is a quitter. She quit as governor and she quit as a potential candidate.

Good grief, your sentence came right from the Axelrod playbook.

Here is what Breitbart said just before he died: "Those in the GOP who did not try to defend her were eunuchs. Those from the right who took their part in the savaging are nothing but animals with no soul"

Congrats, you earned it.

How in the hell do you “quit” as a potential Presidential candidate? Since she hasn’t announced, that’s what we call “deciding not to run.”

As for why she stepped down as Governor of Alaska, does not really have to be explained to you why she made the decision to no longer subject herself and her family to the mounting personal legal costs of defending against dozens of false, frivolous “ethics complaints?”

Sorry to burst that bubble, but - to no fault of her own - Americans decided she was damaged goods after 2008.

She’d have the votes of most of the conservative base, but please.. how many dems and mods would she have won over?
