The gender component is not as important as the racial component. White female jurors will not need to be shown the pictures of Martin to understand that he was a thug. Zimmerman can describe what he observed or a description of his clothing will do the trick. Whites are predisposed to look at black teen aged males as thugs. Hell, it is how they portray themselves in movies, TV and rap videos. Even Jesse Jackson himself has said he is relieved when he looks behind him and sees the person following him is a white person. Zimmerman should smile, he may well have won the case today. Just like OJ won the day they seated his all black jury.
Could explain that HUGE and I mean HUGE smile on Zimmerman’s face today, he looked like he won the lotto..as far as the baby pictures of Trayvon, the Prosecution wont show it, they wouldnt dare open the door to having the defense show the jury the REAL Trayvon Martin..if the prosecution tries to portray Trayvon as an innocent kid, they open the door to the defense bringing in his drug use, the fact that he was high on weed at the time of his death, his suspension from school..the rumors about him being in a gang..prosecution won’t touch that..they will just try to convince the jury that Zimmerman overreacted his boundaries as a neighborhood watchman and took matters in his own hands instead of waiting for the police
Two whites and a Hispanic on OJ’s jury. Don’t know if it was a white or black Hispanic. I tend to agree with your assessment of white perceptions of black teens. If the door is opened to Trayvon’s background, it becomes a given. A wannabee perhaps, but that’s not the issue.

Agree. I think white women (if I may generalize) are predisposed to be afraid of angry young black men. A “law and order” young Hispanic man may move their sympathies. I think he’s got a pretty good chance of walking. (I will add that I hope Z does walk, since I believe T was doing his best to beat out Z’s brains on the sidewalk.)
