“Shame on our governor and legislators, whose approval ratings just hit rock bottom.”
Yea I feel the same way out here in CA. I hope our state goes broke, because it’s the only way we are going to correct the problem. The legislature saw an uptick in tax collections as a result of people selling investments at the end of last year because of uncertainty about CG tax rates. So running true to form, they have already pissed away this money, setting the state up for yet another budget crisis, when the taxes they “are counting on to be perpetual” don’t materialize. From my former business in New England, I am just wondering with all the “industries” that have left, what are states like CT going to do for revenue. You drive around NE and you see all sorts of large vacant aging factories that are just sitting their deteriorating now that their former owners have gone under, their market has been taken over by foreign interests, or they, like the gunmakers have moved South. Take Central Falls, RI as an example of what’s in store for all of NE. And the idiot government employees there refused to take a pension haircut, so they ended up with zip!
I felt that way about my home, Seattle. After 45 years, I bought a small farm in central KY and moved there in 2011. We LOVE it here. The freedome is incredible. We can build a house with NO BUILDING PERMIT. Not that we would, but it’s incredibly freeing to know they are not going to force themselves into my life.
I did build a large shed and am having a large garage building erected soon. And no, there will be no permit.
Oh, and you can buy firearms from private parties here via the local version of Craigslist. :-)
More people need to vote with their feet.
