However, that being said, I’d rather have a secure border and visa control than anything else having to do with this bill, so that’s first for me.

Then you have fallen for the scam the political elites are foisting on this country. This is just an orchestrated effort to create the impression that both parties have come up with the "magic bullet" to allow this bill to go forward. It really isn't about enforcement and border control. Each side still gets what it wants from the bill.

The Reps want more guest workers--skilled and agricultural--so that their big business contributors can depress US wages and enhance their profits. Privatize the profits and socialize the costs, i.e., have the taxpayer pick up the welfare and infrastructure costs.

The Dems get legalization immediately of the illegals who will get work permits, SSNs, unimpeded travel, etc. along with bringing in 22 million of their family members assuming there are only 11 million of them. The legal immigration system will still bring in 1.2 million legal immigrants a year, at least two thirds of whom will vote Dem when they can vote. And the Dems still retain the immigration issue to pummel Reps with.

The Senate bill will pass upon approval of this amendment and then we will witness a propaganda effort like none ever before to push this bill to the House and demand that it be voted upon. This is all a charade. Don't fall for it. The fix is in.

And I’d get rid of any multi-cultural nonsense, I’d go English-only with a bullet, and quit this multi-lingual pandering on everything from directions to food info. If you are lucky enough to get accepted as an immigrant, then you are willingly leaving your old culture behind.

The bill only requires you enroll in an English class. You won't be deported if you don't learn English. The bill doesn't address birthright citizenship. Whatever you or I may want is irrelevant. This 1,000 page bill was written by special interests. Focus on the bill and what is in it, not what you would like to see.

Kabar, I’m in the odd position of agreeing with what you write, but still wanting a double fence with no-man’s land in between no matter what comes of this law. That just strikes me as the way things ought to be all the time.
