Yesterday, it looked like the S. 744 amnesty was going to fall short of 60 votes.

But this morning, two Republican Senators from Tennessee and one from North Dakota are trying to save the amnesty with an amendment designed to look like it fixes the enforcement problems of the bill, but it really is just a fake-out.

We have to make sure the fence-sitting Senators know that the public won’t be fooled by a watered down amendment that throws a little more money at border security but leaves most of the loopholes in place and still gives the amnesty work permits and legalization before any enforcement happens at all.

"...After days of intensive negotiations, a small group of senators had hit upon a compromise that was being floated more broadly in order to gauge support, Republican Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee told reporters.

...A Republican demand that the Obama administration achieve a 90 percent success rate in stopping illegal border crossings as a condition for the pathway to citizenship was "not a sticking point anymore," Corker said. He would not elaborate.

Democrats have pressed hard to prevent such a link."...

Then twenty years down the path about to be taken, each one left alive can probably prepare for another announcement. Those announcement thingies remind everyone nobody in government is anything other than trustworthy. Well after the after effects anyways.

“Bolster Border Security” does NOT equal “Build the fence and control/follow-up on Visas”.

It is a slick, slippery phrase put out by politicians.

It’s in the details. Yesterday, I wrote my congressman and my Senator and said “build the fence and control the visas.” Period. (Portman, the senator with any hope of listening.)

The idea that the current crop of weak willed, spineless jellyfish we call Congress - the same ones pandering for the illegal immigrant vote - will all of a sudden actually become tough on border security is laughable.

Tell me - does this sound right:

Words: WE WILL MAKE THE BORDER SECURE, OH YES SIREE! NO ONE IN OR OUT WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE! :: pounding on the desk, looking very serious ::

Actions: << This space left intentionally blank >>

Sickening.

Who is the majority in this United States? Liberals or Conservatives? and who is running this show? and who is letting them do this? We Conservatives have no voice at all and are being shut out by our own representatives. We gripe and talk it to death, and that is all we’ve got. This is humiliating.

Our so-called leaders can pass all the security laws for the border they want but without meaningful enforcement it merely is pretty language used as political cover for an amnesty program supported by the Democrat Party and GOP establishment. Indeed, the current laws if enforced should be sufficient but because they are ignored we have 11 million+ illegal immigrants. I’m afraid that whatever is passed on paper — no matter how good it sounds — will amount to naught as a practical matter. That’s why, as many others have pointed out, the border first should be secured, and only then should the topic of a path to citizenship for those already here be discussed.

Slow path to progress for U.S. immigrants: 43% on welfare after 20 years

The study, which covers all immigrants, legal and illegal, and their U.S.-born children younger than 18, found that immigrants tend to make economic progress by most measures the longer they live in the U.S. but lag well behind native-born Americans on factors such as poverty, health insurance coverage and homeownership.

The study, based on 2010 and 2011 census data, found that 43 percent of immigrants who have been in the U.S. at least 20 years were using welfare benefits, a rate that is nearly twice as high as native-born Americans and nearly 50 percent higher than recent immigrants.

This is a “STRAW DOG” in order to make this bill more pallitable to these “REPUBLICANS” that are sitting on the fence. Tell everyone, “THIS IS A BAD BILL” and it should be scrapped, and start again, with the intention of “PROTECTING OUR BORDERS”. (period). I have suggested to these “PEA HENS” in Washington, a bill, only 1/2 a page long, that will accomplish everything that more than 80% of the population will accept.
1) Fine every corporation or individual $5,000/illegal they hire.
2) Use our legal citizens to point out who these people are, that are hiring illegals, and pay them $1,000/illegal
3) Use the rest of the fine$4,000/illegal, to send them back to where they came from
Children of illegals born here are US citizens.
There, that only took 1/2 a page and is very understandable.
That will end all our illegal invader proplem.
