Los Angeles Fire Chief Brian Cummings apologized Wednesday for a controversial photo depicting Mexicans he displayed on Twitter.
I sincerely apologize for any insensitivity or disrespect to anyone offended by posing for the photo from the Hope for Firefighters event, he wrote.
The picture, which was posted June 6, showed Cummings at a department fundraiser with three men who were wearing fake mustaches and sombreros.

They are state employees and have no rights other than what isn’t expressly forbidden by the Union or diktats from the Providers in Sacramento.
Only dumb thing here is why any sane person lives in California.
Okkkkkk what is the problem here? I see nothing.
My father wore a sombrero at work for a Cinco de Mayo party. I have pics of my father singing and having a good time like these men are. So again I ask...what is the problem?
Oh for the love of God...I am sick to death of PC crap. I don’t see anything wrong with the pic.
“How can people in public positions be so dumb day after day after day in this twitter age?”
Because they think they are untouchable for anything but murder (due to their unions); that it why it is cops and firefighters in these stories...
“So again I ask...what is the problem?”
The problem is that since we surrendered our country (long after your father’s youthful indiscretions /s), a whole “grievance industry” has sprung up, by which the means to earn a living is taken from straight white men and in this case, will be given to Mexicans (regardless of their qualifications). The remainder of whites in said workplace will be sent to re-education courses, where they will learn that Mexican culture is superior to our own, and they are indebted to Mexicans because of past wrongs.
The United States died long before the Kenyan Pirate was elected; it was lost when BJ Clinton was in the White House - that was the explosion of political correctness.
Just selling their product....tacos. No apology necessary.
Who complained? The Frito Bandito?
Me neither, I don’t see anything to apologize about. It’s just a couple of men having fun.
After ten million or more are granted immunity, it will be considered to be a major civil rights violation to speak English in their presence.
My problem isn’t with this picture, it’s that you have family members going and celebrating cinco de mayo stuff.
Neither can I.
When I lived in the OC (Huntington Beach) a place I went to a lot had all Mescans in the kitchen. Great guys. Very good cooks also. Honestly, they basically ran the place - Jay, the white boy owner spent most of his time on the golf course.
These guys decided to have a "Mescan Appreciation Day"...a joke that kind of just grew.
So, one busy Saturday they all dressed in sombreros and stereotypical Mescan clothes.
Keep in mind - this was all their idea.
This place, right on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) was kind of 'hoity-toity' in its clientele.
As is to be expected, a few of the locals got all uppity about "exploiting" the help.
One guy told her that if she really was serious, she could show her "Being down with the vatos" by leaving a bigger tip.
She got real quiet.
I watched it all from the counter...with the vatos from the kitchen.
There is nothing to apologize for!
The chief plans to meet with community members so that we establish a dialogue so that situations like this do not happen again, Hogan said.
Apologize for "insensitivity" to "anyone offended." "Establish a dialogue." "Meet with community members."
More PC kabuki theater. Honestly. Does anyone believe anything is going to come out of these meetings and dialogue? He's going to sit in front of a camera and let some Mexican activist harangue him and then the fire department will sponsor some Mexican Day event somewhere, or hire some politically-connected consulting firm to give a lecture to the fire department about not using words that are insensitive to Mexicans. Its a sham that not even the PC Libs believe, but the system grinds on.
You have to CHOOSE to be offended. Therefore no apology is needed...Stevie666
No different than non-Irish celebrating St. Patrick's Day, IMHO. A party's a party.
