I certainly don’t advocate loyal lockstep of anyone or anything, other than the Lord Jesus! :) I’ve certainly become a lot more cynical of everyone in politics lately after finally realizing what a lot of the Republicans are. And certainly don’t follow lockstep any radio personality. They can do a lot of good when they get the truth out, but they are just entertainers, after all.
Guess what I’m frustrated with is the little cynical quips/jokes that seem to fill so many threads lately.
Expressing frustration about Glen Beck’s methods is fine. I admire some of what he’s done, but I also believe he’s undermined his credibility with his methods lately.
What I’m frustrated with are comments that I’ve heard people on FR make lately like
“America, nice idea, didn’t last.”
or, “It’s all over folks”.
Everyone is free to say what they like of course, I just find having half a thread filled with lots of little negative one liner quips to be not very helpful. I think we all here recognize how dire and serious our situation is. It’s hard to strike a balance between understanding how far we’ve fallen with a strong dose of remaining hopeful and talking through positive actions we can take.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! It’s obvious you have given much prayerful consideration to what is going on all around us.

We are in total agreement there. JESUS alone is worthy of praise and emulation. Without Him was nothing made. And before Him all knees WILL bow and all lips WILL confess.

I don’t *agree* with those comments, because I am an optimist. I believe in my heart that this Christian nation is a part of GOD’s plan, and our best days can be ahead of us, if we so choose.
We are in great need of revival though; without Christian revival, our prospects *are* indeed grim.
Please keep in mind that while GOD extends His saving grace, through the redemptive work of JESUS, to EVERY individual that believes on His Son, He *does* also work at the level of nations, raising some and lowering others. And nations that collectively turn their back on YAHWEH are doomed. As a student of GOD’s word, you know this is true; both Old and New Testament history are replete with examples of it.
Therefore, we Christians MUST first repent of our own sin. Then, since each of we Christians is a part of the priesthood (see 1 Peter 2), we must “weep between the porch and the altar” (see Joel 2:17), begging GOD to save our nation.
Otherwise, those “cynical quips/jokes” like “America, nice idea, didn’t last” just MIGHT come to pass. The difficult truth is, if America continues down the path it is on, those “quips” are not cynical, they are a possible outcome. I choose to believe that will NOT happen, but the possibility is there.
May GOD shower His rich blessings on you and your household in JESUS’ name, and may He give you strength and the peace that passes all understanding!
